We were doing you a favor, we don't make any money doing this, just get out of line."

Just sketchy, rude assholes.

I'm not defending the gallery here; I certainly don't know all the information. However based on the conversation you yourself just listed I would say that you were being an ass before anyone from the gallery was an ass/rude. If I worked they're I'd get snappy too if I had a bunch of people accusing me of fudge I may or may not have done.

I apologize for calling you out personally, I know you're bummed that you waited and missed out. It just seems like a lot of people are lashing out at gallery employees, many of whom are just poor hourly saps who probably don't enjoy dealing with a bunch of collectors with a vendetta against them.
I was there for Hello Kitty and they treated everyone like this. Disaffected, I-don't-give-a-drymount defensive attitude. I don't give a drymount if they're hourly saps. If they're getting paid, they should be professional and act like it.

doesnt sound like Yommers was being an ass at all. just simply asking how 150 turned into less than 70.

looks like you might have scored a couple there...or were there other prints to be had?

That's Paradise Turns underneath.

Yommer's insinuation that there were 80 employees was pretty snarky (great word). Anyways, I don't want to pick on Yommers. Poor dude missed out and we all know what that feels like. It's just that everyone seems upset that the gallery was rude? No fudge. Tons of people were being extremely rude to them in the firs place. Accusing the guy who's letting people in the door and probably doesn't know anything about "there not being enough" is definitely not the right way to go about handling the issue at hand.

I was jumpstreet's PB and was maybe the 77th person in line. Showed up at 6:00pm. There were definitely a lot of groups showing up about half an hour before the gallery was scheduled to open.

They should have given out wristbands or something.

david what are your thoughts on the inventory issue that has popped up with known multiple times? The dude working the door probably isnt the best person to ask/vent to, but I'd damn sure have a word for the gallery owner if I had been there waited & missed.

Gotcha. Sorry for the accusation

Smartass might be a good term for it. Doorman probably not the best person. But I def would have continued into the gallery and said the same thing to the people inside. What are they gonna do, kick you out for being a smartass? If so, drymount em.

Heh, funny I was the the first person they cut off you must of been right behind my group. They also accused some dude of cutting whom didn't because I saw him there the whole time, so the guy rightfully got angry and started arguing with the door man. So the door guy was already in a bad mood after that. I agree though their responses to simple questions were completely rude, " We don't have to give you guys any explanations, we don't get paid for this we do this as a favor for our friends. If you wanna find out what happened to the prints ask Dennis Morris, or the guy that purchased the original for 35k last night" - some of their replies. Also buddy of mine commented on their ig to see if they're deleting comments and they sure are.. Stay classy Known.

Love the comment defending the doorman as a minimum wage goon. We have art bouncers now?

-drymount Known Gallery -- for all the reasons stated above + my own personal experience. Took a lot of balls for the gallery owner to come here and "state his case," considering that he and his associates don't give a damn about the fans. There are a lot of beloved galleries here in LA, and there is good reason why this gallery is not one of them.
