me too - gig posters is what started it for me and this still poster puts the biggest smile on my face each time i see it (everyday) :D . the memories of one of the best nights i have had. a great band, at a great show on my home digs, with great mates and great memories. what more do you want. And it's a great poster by Ward Sutton too. :pint:

this site minus fad tv shows and new movies would be perfect

Maybe we should start a gig poster sub forum.

A slow year for me as far as purchasing paper as most of my funds have gone towards starting a new ad agency in Denver, but of 40 purchased, 20 are gig posters. Personally, I think '12 has been a great year with some outstanding releases on the gig poster front

I'm pretty new here but I don't think it's so bad - otherwise I wouldn't have stuck around. All Internet forums change over time. Some evolve into something different like this one appears to have, others just fall apart and limp along with a handful of stubborn individuals or die completely. I belonged to the first Internet forum devoted to the band XTC and for a few years it was just "awesome" and I made a lot of friends all over the world that I still keep in touch with and we still get together occasionally. There was a massive breakdown by the forums ISP and there was no back-up and the whole thing was gone forever - but even before that it had changed and even though a replacement came along later it just didn't seem possible to capture the feeling of the old place... Eventually all those old-timers coalesced into a Facebook group which is the closest we've got to how things used to be.

You kind of have to face it that the "old EB", whatever that was, has probably gone forever and you either have to live with it and make the most of it or move on. what don't you like anymore? That it's not just gig posters now?

Keep in mind that EB started as a data-base for Pollock prints, so it's definitely evolved over time. That said, in the past couple of years, the 'etiquette' of years past seems to have vanished. Most of the new members are here for the flip (and even drymounting brag about it), could give a fudge about the art and have nothing to add when it comes to discussing the art. Not everyone, but a lot of the 'newer' members, seem to be on this site to hype, hype and hype. There are still threads and artists that bring out the best in EB (* see pretty much every Horkey/THC thread) so not all is LOST... no pun intended

see... i dont even care about flipping... it makes the world go round and is done in every market around the globe...

my thing is.. it really was a great place before the mondo/movie poster craze. with that came a new breed of people.

2007/2008 were great years
