Randomish question. I was looking at a few of Mike's portraits I own on here, and the prices went INSANE. Why? I own Mr. Pink, LeeLoo, and H.I. The prices went up drastically. Not that I'd sell, I don't sell anything.
High Demand + Low Stock = High Prices

Lots of reasons, scarcity, unlicensed characters that are under-represented, age, etc etc etc.

Prices were up last year but have since crashed big time.

Mr. Pink sold on eBay a couple of weeks ago for under $200. Butcher for $500. Most SW portraits can be had at cost now and there are tons of unlicensed Marvel portrait proofs that are evergreen listings on eBay that can be sniped at under cost if you play the waiting game.

I imagine the crash now is because the portrait series is dead. Doesn't seem like Mike wants to do them anymore and who could blame him when we could cut out the middle man and sell birds directly to his fans and not worry about approvals and Mondo.

Thanks for the info. I personally love the portraits the most from Mike. I hope he does some more, a small series, like 20, but atleast have a 200 run for each.

Don't expect that any time soon. He is aiming for smaller runs. Tired of spending days just signing all the copies of the giant timed edition portraits!

the burden of popularity. think of the hand cramps.

I imagine the crash now is because the poster scene is dead.

Many, many, many artists and prints are way down from just a year or 2 ago.
