Been away from poster scene for past two years. Now I come back -- not only do I know maybe 1/4 of people that are on EB and GP, but everyone seems to have moved en masse to movie and TV posters.

What gives? I personally don't get the fervor. Part of what made the Gig poster so great for me was the connection to the tours, shows and bands.

also, there's no pressure to go literal on Gigposters -- music can convey a mood or theme that an artist can explore. Movie/TV = less so.

Didn't you do some reporting on MBW a while back? What's not to get.

What's confusing about the fact that people also have emotional connections to movies and television shows?

my question may also stem from the fact that I just came back from Bumbershoot Flatstock, where one booth was literally selling only movie/tv posters and art prints, with only two music posters for sale. which is totally against what the API/Flatstock is about.

so I dunno, chip on shoulder.

and it's just weird to see tide move so drastically.

I think that's pretty much what it boils down to. And that seems to (finally) be coming to an end so I figure we'll be moving on to the NEXT BIG THING here in the next 6 months or so.

I don't really buy that, considering the entire crowd moved together at once -- and many artists, seeing where the money is flowing, seemed to move along with them.

has to be something else at play. groupthink of jumping on stuff?
