The money vs. art question will never be answered. But now and then I enjoy taking sides for a moment, so I can watch people rush in to defend the other side.

For example, You wouldn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new poster that is going for way less than that on the open market. Keeps people honest and informed.
Aah, gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. Cheers.

I love baseball cards cos you get free bubblegum. With posters you just get free bubblewrap. And a grotesque credit card bill :)

Just saying but my buddy still collects and trades basketball cards and that market is still thriving. Granted the ones that are valuable have pieces of peoples jerseys in them but they are crazy valuable. He recently made like 12k in profit over 3 months of trading. So not all card markets are a bust.

He ended up buying a wholesale lot of cards for 27k from a guy looking to offload. And he has made a tidy profit as a result. He goes to all the card shows and all that. Just eBay basketball cards with the jersey in them (I think upper deck does some sets, maybe others too). I was pretty amazed when he told me too...

That's what I meant: That market had crashed a while back, and now that the poster market has dipped and it's not as much fun as it was in 2003 to 2006, the Baseball card market looks good again...

All prices are rising at acceptable levels as forecast by the Mondo Reserve.

we should create some type of derivatives market where you can buy puts and calls on posters and skip having to actually buy the damn thing.

EB has already made a market we just need to take it to the next level!
