do they just let, like, one person in at a time or something???

(Never been to a gallery show, have never lived near the californiaz or the austinz ;))
Yes, one at a time. Then they look though archive prints, stare at the panels. Bullshit. Like 10 people an hour. drymount spoke art.
You seems rather touchy, jesus. That's fine about the time, I'm over it. I do appreciate the "test" however I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THIS IN LINE WHEN I MADE MY POST. I've personally given you thousands of dollars over the years, you're welcome. I have been to many, many spoke art shows (see you in 2 weeks at Ark Market) and I was not prepared for this. I got in line at 2pm, and didn't leave till 8pm and all I got was the regular editions. Every previous show Chuck/Welker/Sonic went much faster.

My posts were born out of spending an entire saturday waiting in line while my wife texts me death threats for being gone for so long.

A suggestion for next time would be to separate the archive prints. "this panel and 2 foils of rhyme and reason" would take two seconds.

Doesn't matter what you do though, you're selling crack with Sperry's and Spusta's and I'll always be back for more regardless of how you run these sales.

P.S. please stop smoking, it's gonna kill you. Try vaping and lower the nicotine level over time. Worked for me.
Yeah, I'm touchy - it's an insanely long month. Take the few hours you spent in line and times that by 100, that's how much time and energy we've put into this show. Compound that with the insane number of FB and EB messages I've gotten this past week with inane questions, PB requests and complaints about line sitters and you'll be understanding that I've got very little patience for people complaining when we're doing our best... especially if we're bending over backwards to make sure that works go to real fans.

Your suggestion of separating archive prints is something we actually were doing. For people who needed more time to browse the archive stuff, we asked them to purchase their panel and Reason/Rhyme prints first. But, since so many of the archive items only had one copy available, people still needed time and of course had to get back in line to purchase an archive. Again, if someone's been waiting in line for hours (or days) I need to balance both allowing them the opportunity to enjoy the show while also moving the line along as quickly as possible.

Glad you're more understanding now of where we were at and how/why we did things this way.

For Welker's upcoming show, we're probably going to do a lottery so that'll hopefully be easier for our local fans.

Appreciate your support over the years - but just so it's known, if anyone talks fudge on me or my gallery... I will clap back.

I care way less then it seems, I was simply venting on the day.

I really just want you to stop smoking.

On the bright side, pretty sure you don't have these issues with a Doyle show, am I right?

"death threats"

You ever leave at 1:30 on a saturday and say "i'll be back at 5 or 6" and you get home at 9pm? On a saturday?
yeah.

'hey, this line is going long, i'll be home later than expected' works. but all relationships are different.
In my case, it would be more like “drymount. STILL HERE... I WILL WATCH THE POTTY-TRAINING TWO YEAR OLD AND THE COLICKY INFANT ALLLL DAY TOMORROW, I am SO SORRY BABE!!!”

For me it was "I want to leave, but I've been here so long I can't quit now!". She understood.

Want to discourage flippers? That's easy. DON'T disclose anything about the show until hours (not days) before opening if it's first come, first serve. This makes the show exclusive to locals and surrounding areas, and this will deter flippers since the ROI will be unknown. This also won't annoy the surrounding neighbors with people lining up outside residentials and stores. Locals and hardcore fans will still attend the show regardless and buy stuff, but this gives them literally no time to game the system, so there's really no point disclosing anything besides saying, "new image" for sale. So unless you're concern with selling out on the first day this is the best policy for first come, first serve.

Keep flippers in the dark and the chances of these selling to local collectors would dramatically increase. Curious if majority of Agape even went to locals, which should have to begin with, but I'm almost certain that majority of them went to out of state people based on fb and ebay.

psh. that would have the OPPOSITE effect.

the fomo alone would create even earlier line ups.

You're not going to eliminate all the flippers but at least they won't be able to game the system either. If someone wants to wait days ahead of time without seeing an image or know what product will be sold, go ahead. The whole point is to keep them guessing.

Please see every mondo mystery movie for excessive hype, speculation, preflips, and disappointment for how collectors react towards hyped mystery art events.

The only thing that discourages flippers is giant huge editions. Or something unumberd to be printed in infinite.

Until sperry can do open edition panels, and prints, people will line up, or hire other people to line up for his work.

its just part of the game.

only other thing is crazy high prices to leave no meat on the bone for a flip.
