Anyone else tired of the same old thing from Chuck? Lady after lady after lady, all very similar. I'm burnt out with his ladies and wonder if this is all he will print til the end. I know its like printing money for Chuck, but from an artists point of view, and the number of years he has done this, isn't it time for Chuck to find anothe rwinner in his artistic ability. I get it. We're all comfortable in our safe zone. Take a risk Chuck! You are talented!!

Yes. But also to be fair, same couldn’t be said for just about every artist.

These ladies were never my bag, although I like the looks of some of them.

The only Sperry print I have bought is the beautiful Dave Matthews Virginia Beach Its radiant
I keep looking for another to buy , one where the girl doesn’t look too toothy / crazy or weird .
Anyone have recommendations? :pint:

I’m a big fan of the ladies myself. I appreciate the historical reference (Mucha, Victorian, etc), the technical skill required to do it all himself, the patterns, etc. I’d like him to try a few more classical (Greco-Roman things for example). I’m think he’d kill it

Some are better than others, but I like this latest one. Being in the Midwest I never have a shot at any from the releases though

Different strokes I guess.

He does plenty of non-lady fudge still but nobody cares about any of it.

Lies! All his other fudge sells out every time just like the ladies, though not as fast.

And I actually dig most of his other stuff more than most ladies. I think Edwardian Ball are the only ones that I usually easily pass on.

Completely agree. I was hoping that this same background would've been retired in 2017 and fresh new material would be introduced, perhaps other races women or (men?!?) or political material utilizing new colors/fonts/backgrounds beyond the single one used for March for Science, All you need is love, and Resist. Perhaps a Chuck Sperry Stained Glass edition? Landscapes? Something new would be nice.

When he takes “risks” you end up with the Garcia series, which still just boggles my mind how bad they are, and each one worse than the last. Sometimes it seems like he doesn’t take a step back from the finished work and just say, oh no no no, I need to change this. But I keep going back to that Sabbath print he did, and those leftover salmon shining prints. So good.

Can chuck just straight up draw or paint? Like does anyone have any non-print work by him or even any good examples of doodling on a print?

But shitfuck man, he prints the drymounting fudge out of his ladies and nobody knows his way around metallic and translucent layers like squirt. Hope he never stops never stopping making ladies. Each I time I see a new one, her eyes demand that I reckon with her. Some just cast an absolute spell.

He can def draw. I’ve seen his lady OGs before—people forget that he can draw because they’re so gaga over the printing. He’s posted images of his ink work before —apparently he has a bunch of his OGs but doesn’t sell them. Hoping he chooses to do a show sometime where you can actually see the OGs in person at least.

nice doodle!

Frankly I am rather shocked by this new conceit that fans of an artist (or anyone other than the artist, for that matter) should feel able to dictate the future of the artist's creative pursuits. It is venal AF, and a grotesque abuse of the creative process.

Thankfully, that self-indulgence is rare in the fine art world.

In the high end fine art world, gaiiery owners and top clients/collectors do. make studio visits
And by their reactions and opinions they do shape the Artists’s output to a degree
The gallery encourages work that their clients will buy. That is a fact
With the current state of print collectors/ speculators everything sells out , no matter what it is .

What is the motivation for the artist to do groundbreaking new daring work ? If it all sells anyway ?
I’d love to hear others opinion on this
