Chuck Sperry News
Not sure that would prevent much but why go to the trouble when its easier to tell us the story that EQL is fair......absolutely on the artist here (its why Relix went to EQL) and close to 20 lava prints went up on ebay tonight for well over $1k

Dude. That's an insanely small hurdle for automation.Grateful69Phish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 7:33 amwould a 2 step purchase process reduce this?

really don't see the bots being able to handle the additional phone fraud

so if someone instantly puts on on ebay, then it's unfair?

so phone numbers can be faked and mapped ? wtf - seems FCC like violationygolohcysp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:54 amDude. That's an insanely small hurdle for automation.Grateful69Phish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 7:33 amwould a 2 step purchase process reduce this?

something seems a bit off with response, because most banks etc logins use it and it's not known as a huge weakness
this relix release only highlights what a failure eql is
Phone numbers can absolutely be faked. The reason two factor authentication works for banks is because someone trying to get unauthorized access to your account would need both YOUR username and password AND access to YOUR phone number. But when you can use services like Google Voice to generate as many phone numbers as you want, and it's the bot users own EQL accounts associated with their own phone numbers they have access to, then it can absolutely be automated and abused in that context.Grateful69Phish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:53 amso phone numbers can be faked and mapped ? wtf - seems FCC like violationygolohcysp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:54 amDude. Do people complaining about flippers realize that flippers always existed before too? There are always going to be people out to make a buck. And there are always going to be Chuck Sperry fans who don't value every new print the same as others and will want to flip one in order to finance the purchases of other prints that have sky rocketed in value. That is just the reality.
It doesn't change the fact that EQL is the best way to prevent bots from winning. And sure, it favors people with spouses and multiple shipping addresses to have multiple EQL entries, or people with friends and family willing to enter every drop to increase their odds, but I'll take that over someone utilizing bots getting 10+ posters to flip every time a drop rolls around. In the current system flippers might be winning 1 out of hundreds of posters. In the old system flippers were using bots to win many posters and the same flipper was selling multiple posters. EQL will never eliminate people re-selling. But if it prevents a bot account from re-selling multiples, while also giving fans who were never getting posters in the old system a chance then I'm all for it.

You don't need to take someone else's number to have a new phone number. Google voice and a fair number of other services hands them out for free. Virtual sim cards exist and there's multiple places to buy phone numbers like this in bulk, you handle everything with software, not individual devices. Heck you can even buy physical sim cards in bulk from Verizon and plug them into special hardware, then your computer gets all the text messages. Prepaid phones are also a thing, you ever watch the wire?Grateful69Phish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:53 amso phone numbers can be faked and mapped ? wtf - seems FCC like violationygolohcysp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:54 amDude. Also fwiw, 2 factor verification with a phone is considered the least desirable and lowest possible rung of available options from a security standpoint, just because banks use it doesn't mean it's good, they and their users are just technologically illiterate. 2fa with a phone via text is actually horrible, check out this article: https://www.securemac.com/news/is-sms-for-2fa-insecure
