I just got done with a new piece for myself-- The Comedian from WATCHMEN. I'm planning on a series of Anti-Heroes... next up is Jayne Cobb from Firefly/Serenity, followed by Tyler Durden of Fight Club-- so I'll at least have a triptych. I'd like to keep going until I have something that looks a little like Taylor's Bounty Hunters-- each of the Anti-Heroes will be laid out the same, the background a graffiti-ed brick wall (or something manly like that).

This was one of the most enjoyable pieces I've worked on in a long time, I hope all of the series are just as much fun.

As for 4th, 5th and 6th? I'm leaning towards Marv from Sin City, Snake Plissken, and High Plains Drifter (or something Eastwood, Dirty Harry or The Man with No Name). I'd love to include Lee Marvin, but none of his roles are iconic enough. But that's okay, Lee Marvin is Lee Marvin. He doesn't need a character to be a bad ass.

This piece was a commission for iambillyg--

Billy wanted a piece inspired by The Fountain, one of my favorite films that has some incredible scenes and beautiful cinematography.

"The Fountain", 16" x 22", cold-pressed watercolor paper with hand deckled edge.

Billy took some more "artistic" shots of it in the Acquisitions thread... they might look better than the real thing in person.

The Comedian looks great, Jeff. Giclee I suppose?
I'm not into Firefly, but I'm so ready for a Tyler Durden. :D This could be a great series.

Yes, 17x29 giclee on canvas, hand embellished with acrylic.

I've heard from a couple of people lately that weren't into Firefly/Serenity and it confounds me. If there was one TV show I could resurrect, it would be Firefly. If I hit the lottery, I would bankroll a killer Firefly animated series.

The Durden will be fun. One of my favorite lines in a book ever:

"Getting fired," Tyler says, "is the best thing that could happen to any of us. That way we'd quit treading water and do something with our lives."

When I get the next few done, I was going to do a small run of each on cold-press watercolor paper. Kind of like Bounty Hunter Wave 1 & Wave 2, but you wouldn't have to purchase the group, you could pick and choose, or just have a single if that's the way you want it...

Anybody else have any ideas for Anti-Heroes? I got stumped after about eight... so I started looking for online lists. How did I forget Mad Max? I did think of Travis Bickle, you always could use a guy with a mohawk. Which made me think of BA Barracus.

Leon.

God, I wish there was a good Punisher movie. Somebody ask Nolan to make one.

From those you already mentioned definitely Bickle, The Man With No Name and Leon.

I don't know if they all fall into the Anti-Hero category, but how about:

- Oh Dae-su (Oldboy) !!
- V (V for Vendetta) !
- Alex (A Clockwork Orange)
- Beatrix Kiddo (Kill Bill)
- Jules (Pulp Fiction)
- William Foster (Falling Down)
- Tony Montana (Scarface)
- Hellboy
- Eric Draven (The Crow)
- Daniel Plainview (There Will Be Blood)
- The Driver (Drive)
- Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)
- Willie (Bad Santa)

and maybe Rorschach to go with The Comedian.

A lot of good ideas here...

I keep going back to Lee Marvin and trying to narrow down his most iconic role. Major Reisman from The Dirty Dozen is his most famous, but Walker from Point Blank is a stone cold killer. If you haven't seen Point Blank, it's amazing. There are a couple of great images from the film, but it is not as widely known as most of the other anti-heroes on the lists.

The ones I am absolutely sure of are Tyler Durden and Jayne Cobb.

Leon, Snake Plissken, Marv, and an Eastwood are most likely if I do more than three.

On the bubble:
Mad Max
Riddick
V
Blade
Mr. Eko (LOST)
Jules Winfield ( I need to make a Bad Mother Drymounter wallet)
Travis Bickle
Alex from A Clockwork Orange
Donny Donowitz, "The Bear Jew"
Ash
Batou (if there ever was a Ghost in the Shell live action film)
The Punisher (if they could make a decent one)

I keep wanting to add a Viking, Special Forces/SAS, or a guy with an ax to the list.

It also makes me want to do a triptych of bad ass villains-- The Kurgan, Anton Chigurh, and Bill (Kill).
