Well first of all Cloisters and Hugs are different conversations, those are in a league of their own and Static knocked those out of the park.35mmpaul wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 3:59 amI can't say I've seen many old prints to compare...but Static is kind of the best in the game in terms of giclee printing and painting reproductions. I have seen the originals and prints for Cloisters and others from Gilded Age and they all look stunningly accurate to the real deal.
And Well yeah, no doubt they're at the top of the game. So many artists use Static, it is surely for good reason. I wasn't saying there is anything wrong with Static. I just think for, specifically some of Esao's pieces, I think the old method looks better. You really have to have both to compare side by side. And btw I have seen most of the Original Paintings of the prints I am talking about. There have been 1 or two static prints that frankly showed up and were a little disappointing (Wino, Murina's tomb), and then again there are others that blow my mind (Petrichor, Hugs), so i can't tell. I think the method has to suit the image. But then again, printing is an art on its own and therefore subjective.
