I ask this as I am picking up my 4th framed Gedde's piece tomorrow. The wife thinks that is too many. She said I could not put any of them together, I need to hang them in separate rooms. So that brought up the question, is there a limit to how many of a particular artist you hang? I mean, I have Hush's Masked Siren, it seems like getting another Hush to hang would be overkill unless it is a piece that is so different than the other. Same way with some other's I have like Faile, MBW, MURAKAMI. A lot of their stuff is very similar. Just wondering?

Wife says I have too many Stouts so the majority of them wait in a flatfile until we get a house with some wall room.... hopefully within the year.

She sounds like a controlling bitch.

I think if you only do one artist in a room, there is no limit. If you are doing multiple artists within the same viewing area, you probably want to even it out otherwise it might look odd.

Personally:

13 Coopers in the living room (and one Budich)
8 Coopers in the stairway
4 Coopers in the open area
5 Viveros at the top of the stairway
4 Faireys in the kitchen
7 Faireys in the bedroom

I try to focus on collecting the best work of each artist that I like. Diversity is so nice and more than two of any artists' work looks boring in my opinion. It took me a few years to come to this realization and it was after I had 4+ Keyes images around the house and I got tired of them. Everyone has his/her own tastes but I wouldn't want floating astronauts looking at me in every room I walked into. We get it, it's an astronaut.

If you have all of your eggs in one proverbial basket, you're more at risk if the market turns south (that is if you value the monetary value of your collection).

On the walls:
Parla - St. Giles
Banksy - No Ball Games
Fairey - Peace Tree
Eine - Home Sweet Home
Zoltron - Fantastic Mr. Fox
Keyes - Tic Toc, Treadmill (soon to replaced by Shedding or Lifted)
Hirst - Nucleohistone
Dran - Learning to Fly
Beejoir - Pills
KAWS - Pinnochio/JC
Penny - Liberty
McCarthy - Long Quiet Life
Thielke - Mystic
Fake - Fake Love

In line to be framed:
Eelus - NEISBAW
Powers - Your Everafter
Stout - Lebowski
Vernon - The Flood

My goal is to add a quality Invader (regret selling my Invasion), a nice Faile, a Swoon, and maybe upgrade the Dran/Eine to I Love You and Shutterfont letters.

Some "shoot for the stars" acquisitions include a Murakami '727' , and Koons 'Balloon Dog' sculpture.

If I can nail a few of those down I'd be very happy with my collection as a whole.
