Did Olly do any papercut characters at SDCC? I've been camping but trying to follow along here and there. Didn't see anything mentioned.

No, he wasn't pleased with the quality of the one he tried to make, and wasn't keen on selling them/creating a mob once word would get out. He did take the time to do some really cool sketches for people. I got a Kent Brockman/Pikachu doodle, for example...

Now that's thinking ahead and good use of Amazon Prime.

Olly and I had a conversation about how working in Britain didn't really give him enough studio space.. so I said he should come out to Cali.

He said he DID for a time, and lived in LA, but really didn't like it.

So I said.. that's because it's LA, next time come to SD

He needs to move out of the home counties, he could buy a hangar up here for the price of a studio apartment in Winchester. :P

In Austin proper, or is this "Austin area"?

I don't know Austin, but in Atlanta people live in "Atlanta", yet it takes them over an hour to get into the city and 20 minutes to get to the outskirts of a major highway...
When stressed about getting a drop, just remember: it will decay into the same organic matter as inevitably as your rotting corpse no matter how much museum glass you put in front of it.
