there's been all sorts of fakes sold throughout the years in subway stations, so my guess is girl just experienced her first "banksy pop-up", is oblivious, and hopes to go viral.

Over a million views, she got exactly what she wanted.

there was a dude doing this same stunt all around central park after the first random banksy sale when he was in nyc all those years ago. he would get made if you took pictures of what he said was 'his art'

This is just insane bullshit. Even if you accept that NFT allow ownership and use of the art itself, which is 100% not true, I've been making my own prints from jpgs of Banksy's fudge for years.

Please to god do not buy NFTs, they are just dumb.

Has all signs of “taking off”.

So… Why would anyone want to collect digital “particles” of any particular piece of physical art? Oh yeah, because the more I like the actual art and the more “particles” I buy, the more the creator of “particles” will pocket, of my money, mind you. Maybe the “creator” will even be able to buy the actual physical art with the fools’ money they pocket, if enough fools rush in.

Cool, I am in!

I mean it was kind of dumb from the start, but this is really getting to be dumb on the next level. I’d even go to say unseen level of dumb. But, give people what they want. Nothing wrong with that, I guess.

I know you’re shitting on it because the word NFT triggers a lot of you but unless I’m reading it wrong, what’s the difference with this and Masterworks that has been around for a while? This isn’t new. It’s fractionalizing art and just applying blockchain to it.

That doesn’t sound like what’s happening here tho unless I’m reading it incorrectly.

I don't get it at all. Seems like a big ponzi scheme to me. I thought it was really strange to own a what amounts to a jpg or gif in my mind, but then to take it a step further and own a pixel (I know that's not totally accurate) blows my mind.

"It not blank that's a million dollar white square"
