I really like everything in the print besides C Brown. I love how Marq draws clouds. But I'll probably pass on this whole series. Not a fan, and unflippable. Can't wait to see people try to flip an edition of 550 again.

I like this one. Seems like I'm alone. To me this feels much more like a Spusta piece than the last one did. Can definitely see why people aren't into Charlie Brown in this image, though.
Rolled the dice and "variance" arrived.....unscathed. Sahweet gig poster. Would nominate if I could.

Didn't realize that was Woodstock under his shirt until I saw the concept sketch. Not a fan. Will probably come with the best Charlie Brown minis of all time and people will sell them for $75.
The Spustards will certainly show up.thefool wrote:new charlie brown print is horrible.

//Completely unrelated//
I was surprised to see a 'Buggin' go for 305 on the bay. Relatively speaking, that's a pretty good price and i think a little lower than the last one. It feels like things are finally starting to level off maybe.
Wish I would have grabbed that Chlorophyll EaE last night. I was pretty sure it wouldn't be around by today.
Oh, and look at the lulz in this pic

DarkHallMansion wrote:Exactly, spot on JK! Image of Marq, his original concept drawing and a development image.jkw3000 wrote:No worries. I didn't interpret that panel as surreal myself, just as part of a sequential build for the comic. But I respect that Marq found surrealness in that particular panel and is creating a single image to display the strangeness of freezing that panel. It's pretty fascinating to see his perspective latch onto it, and at the very least it's always nice to get some insight on the thinking - I may not agree, but I appreciate the perspective.DarkHallMansion wrote:We think Marq reached to that Schulz imagery for a single stand alone print precisely because its surreal nature and strength speaks to something more broadly, with everyone being Charlie Brown on that mound at some point in life and our reaction to it, not solely the fun gags as you can imagine, since it's Schulz but also filtered via Marq's perception as artist as well so informs his choices.jkw3000 wrote:Yeah, I've seen the panel, but I also think a print depicting that one moment in time can sap the image of the psychology perception of motion that reading a comic strip from panel to panel can bring. But that's just my opinion, much respect still to Marq and to his point of reference with Schulz.
That "pow" panel is still one of my favorites though.
Thanks on the input JK, DHM

Few progress pics from Marq along with some specific Schulz references he used in development of his piece.

I wonder how long these will be sitting in carts. I am guessing for nearly half the day and that might even be for the green edition.
Woodstock with the shirt is a super cute addition, very nice touch. However, Charlie Brown does not sell Peanuts merchandise. It is Snoopy AND Woodstock who make the pieces.
