I agree. There may be some strange choices for properties, but I think Ken did a fantastic job so far. I'll be grabbing Frank for sure and if Predator is on metal then I'll get that. Maybe get fight club too.Kramerica wrote:I get people being underwhelmed but there is some grade A illustration work going on there. I don't know that I need the Predator or Catwoman pieces but I think both are stunning. Frank is a definite purchase for me, wish there was a Wolf Man though.

While I'm not enamored with the majority of the Taylor work, I don't really dislike any of it (though I do dislike that font). But Das Boot is killer. One of the greatest war films (make that films, period) ever made, one that previously had no poster love, and Taylor knocked it out of the park. I also dig both pieces going on sale tomorrow.

It's just not as bad as the rest. Doesn't mean it's good.partpat wrote:Celsius wrote:14 new mondo posters were shown today and the best one is for Catwoman. Heh.

Search around here and you'll find one.mondonut76 wrote:I'm a little bumbed by the Taylor stuff. Little Shop and Das Boot are great. The rest are okay. The Predator poster is head scratchingly bad. What the Hell does a snake have to do with Predator? Predator is going on 30 years old and no still no one has really nailed a poster for it.

Im very surprised at peoples reaction's here.
I think Ken has done an amazing job on all of them...
Such a huge amount of work has gone into these. His illustrations are sold pieces art work.
Here is two of the official release cinema posters.
I would personally choose Ken's work, and would love to see studio's go back to creating art work.

I don't think people are bashing Ken's illustrative talents but that Fight Club poster does not emote anything Fight Club to me. It was an odd choice IMO.

I've looked around and I stand by my Predator statement. The Thorp poster was cool. The Manev poster is really cool. Almost nailed it. But no one has ever got it perfect. People always get hung up on the predator itself, Manev excluded, and forget what an awesome cast of faces that film has. Bill Duke, Carl Weathers, The Body Ventura, etc. All the posters just become about the Predator standing there looking freaky. And Taylor's snake thing is different but again, it doesn't capture the movie. I don't know what it captures, other than 'Hey, Predator hates snakes.'UrsusMorris wrote: Wrong

The variant was the best Mondo reveal of the day IMO. Although Yvonne Craig as Batgirl would have blown my mind.Celsius wrote:14 new mondo posters were shown today and the best one is for Catwoman. Heh.

No likenesses in that show. They were all generic representations of the characters. None of the actors' likenesses were used.jeter0204 wrote:The entire Mitchell showcharter wrote:How many prints with full likeness has Mondo released this year?
Because it's the print we deserve, but not the one we need right now. So we'll hunt it.
