Ugh I hope it's none of the video game franchises mentioned in this thread so far. No offense guys.

So much more potential with the niche stuff that can still have nostalgic appeal to a wide audience. I would kill to see a broad Sega license Streets of Rage, Outrun, Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue, Yakuza, Shinobi and what not. Drymounting Jet Set Radio, fudge an entire JSR and JSRF series by Eric Tan.

I don't know, if I had to wager it would be an entire Mario series by Whalen or something equally boring.

Thing is with the well know classic game series most of those companies have in house artist and no shortage of art, especially the japanese companies that put out enough fan service stuff to drown people in art books, calenders, trading cards, posters etc.

Will at least be interesting to see what Mondo got the rights to.

As much as I love mondo and video games I'm really not looking foward to any video game prints. I feel like it's a step in the wrong direction for mondo, but what do I know?

These all sound just terrible.

I can't really see videogame art being really fantastic unless it goes in a totally insane direction.

I can get behind like the pieces for the Scott Pilgrim movie, but just a straight-up print based on a videogame? Sounds silly.

But what the hell do I know, I've got comic pages and fudge hanging in my house.

Wouldn't be a bad idea for marketing purposes if a new poster was released before the opening of each city on the tour as there look to be about 8 cities booked so far.
Side note, I've been to a bunch of the Ghibli films for the retrospective here in NYC. If you have a chance to see them go do it. The new 35MM prints are amazing and its a great chance to see a lot of the films you might never have seen on the big screen again. I've heard through the grapevine that they've booked some dates all around the country, so keep an eye out.
Not sure if the full schedule has been posted, but its supposed to open in LA late Jan (26th if I'm not mistaken). Boston is supposed to follow mid to late Feb with Chicago, Seattle, Austin and others after. I plan to go to at least one or two that I've never seen when it hits Boston.
Thanks for posting info about the traveling retrospective. After a quick Google search I found one will be here (Dallas) at the end of the month and tickets go on sale Monday. My daughter has never seen Spirited Away and hopefully she'll get to check it out for the first time on the big screen.

Tyler would have a field day with all those characters: Soda Popinksi, Piston Honda and Glass Joe?? Hell, even Little Mac. He'd crush it!
