ROSE SHACKLE AVAILABLE TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH!

"Facing the Giant: Three Decades of Dissent" co-curator Pedro Alonzo’s statement on "Rose Shackle":⠀
Frequently used in Fairey’s work, roses represent more than decorative elements. Regularly central to the action of the scene or included as key design elements, the rose is invoked as a resilient species, representing an organic sense of beauty and natural strength.

Enlarged and consuming the full expanse of the print, the rose radiates energy from within and stands upright despite the shackle and chain that binds its stem. The artist humanizes the message of rising above oppressive circumstances by including an oversized drop of blood that hangs but does not yet fall, from the protruding thorn. Acting as a metaphor for an individual or society-at-large, who has endured and preserved in the face of adversity, Fairey positions the rose as a surrogate rendering of the activist spirit that guides his artistic career.

Rose Shackle. Serigraph on Coventry Rag, 100% Cotton Custom Archival Paper with hand-deckled edges. 30 x 41 inches. Signed by Shepard Fairey. Numbered edition of 89. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. $900. Available Tuesday, August 13th @ 10 AM PDT at store.obeygiant.com/collections/prints. Max order: 1 per customer/household. *Orders are not guaranteed as demand is high and inventory is limited.* Multiple orders will be refunded. International customers are responsible for import fees due upon delivery.⁣ ALL SALES FINAL.

if you are buying these to resell you are gonna have a bad time. LF generally don't do very well.

IMO, a few will do well immediately, a few more could be flipped immediately for happy meal money and most of the rest will stay right around their purchase price and after a couple years could be sold generating a profit sufficient to fund a dinner at a decent restaurant.

I bet the printing on this one is going to look fantastic. The JPEG even looks good.

I see the aftermarket for these LF's as likely to be similar to the aftermarket for Sperry panels now. When there were few, you could usually count on a return on the investment. Now that everyone has the opportunity to buy a panel if they really want only a handful have really retained their value. I also think that most of the people that may be interested in these are probably interested in few so that if they miss out on one they'll simply try for a different one instead of going to the aftermarket.

The Obey Deco Flower is inspired by Constructivism, Art Deco, Black Flag, and my belief that positive symbols can inspire positive actions. There are a lot of assholes pushing fear and division… don’t fall for it… RISE ABOVE!
