Anything OBEY related
Any chance there will be a separate drop from the OBEY site at a later date?IronBott wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 4:52 pmAs most know Shepard is in Montreal doing a mural and exposing a show at station 16 this summer. I was really looking forward to the mural and print in Montreal. It's great to have Shepard come here and be a part of the Mural festival. However, I wish the image would have been more original. Basically a mash-up of already existing images. Got the print anyway. The "Paix" in French is a nice touch for us. Also, to be able to pick it up in person and save the expensive shipping costs makes it up for what appears to be a steep gallery mark-up over his usual pricing for something similar.

I don't think you're the only one who feels that way.
A clip was posted in the discord, where journalists were viewing the gallery before the evening opening. The clip happened to cut in right while a journalist was in the middle of asking him why he chose those images for the mural. Shepard's answer was, “This is an image that draws people in, but then, the girl has this gun with a flower…it concisely conveys what I want it to. It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s not that I’m incapable of coming up with new imagery, it’s more that I think it’s the most potent thing to tell the story.”
Well, fair enough. I take it as he's addressing critiques coming his way of being lazy or repetitive with his imagery. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.bsharp wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 9:07 pmI don't think you're the only one who feels that way.

It's funny when people critique repetition, it's literally his manifesto

Just got this in the mail, it's a great looking print, but a couple things I noticed..
I got the 59 Parks version, came in a tiny tube, no tape on endcaps but both stayed. Poster, although tightly rolled, looks to be in good shape.
The text under Big Sur doesn't say "Established 1851" but instead just says "California"
any thoughts?? Curious if the Obey version is any different textwise
