As most know Shepard is in Montreal doing a mural and exposing a show at station 16 this summer. They are releasing Paix et Justice print tomorrow at 10am but we can purchase the print right now by emailing mike@s16gallery.com
Edition of 500 at 125 CAD

Any chance there will be a separate drop from the OBEY site at a later date?

The mural print is pretty spendy for an 18 x 24 but I still picked one up. I guess I am wrong on the big sur which is cool with me

I take it you haven’t tried to ship anything internationally recently?

I will get mine directly from the gallery this afternoon. I may have preferred a 24*36.

I was really looking forward to the mural and print in Montreal. It's great to have Shepard come here and be a part of the Mural festival. However, I wish the image would have been more original. Basically a mash-up of already existing images. Got the print anyway. The "Paix" in French is a nice touch for us. Also, to be able to pick it up in person and save the expensive shipping costs makes it up for what appears to be a steep gallery mark-up over his usual pricing for something similar.

I don't think you're the only one who feels that way.

A clip was posted in the discord, where journalists were viewing the gallery before the evening opening. The clip happened to cut in right while a journalist was in the middle of asking him why he chose those images for the mural. Shepard's answer was, “This is an image that draws people in, but then, the girl has this gun with a flower…it concisely conveys what I want it to. It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s not that I’m incapable of coming up with new imagery, it’s more that I think it’s the most potent thing to tell the story.”

Well, fair enough. I take it as he's addressing critiques coming his way of being lazy or repetitive with his imagery. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

It's funny when people critique repetition, it's literally his manifesto

I just don’t like the image. That chick give me Lorena Bobbit vibes with her dead eyes. I do like the obey chop in the top left tho!

Just got this in the mail, it's a great looking print, but a couple things I noticed..

I got the 59 Parks version, came in a tiny tube, no tape on endcaps but both stayed. Poster, although tightly rolled, looks to be in good shape.

The text under Big Sur doesn't say "Established 1851" but instead just says "California"

any thoughts?? Curious if the Obey version is any different textwise
