So is the discussion of the night "the validity" of private sales? Is there not some way to track the print number to make sure you not buying a counterfeit?

It's best to treat the sales history as nothing more than a loose guide at best.

a very, very loose guide... ever noticed how the word loose just looks funny?

The concern is more about the validity of the prices prints are sold at rather than bootlegs. People are reporting shilled auctions and dummy sales as reported sales... which drives up the average price of the print... which leads to a price reference that's null & void when it comes to accuracy... or something like that...

hi Michael.

I don't do member sales, I just add and approve member submitted eBay auctions. I'm not sure how private sales are added.
I know we do on occasion add sales from Christies or the SixtiesPosters auctions and note them as such. Also some website sales are recorded (like Sean's) and noted as such. I'm not a fan of the Private Sale, especially without backup 411 like the print edition #.

thx damon. you share the same name as one of the curators of this freaky ass series. you are probably a part of the conspiracy.

so to clarify, it would require the intervention of a mod in order to report a private sale on the site?

I have somewhat more faith in those sales if that is the case, although it would depend on the mod.

You've made this abundantly clear.
