Woo, I wish I could be a fly on the wall when some of these ebay auction winners get their Detroit Arts print in. The most recent sold for $9K through auction but no one has them in their possession for the auctions just post the stock photos. Something tells me there will be more than a few cancelled sales.
I'm not someone else.
im continually astounded by the kaws audience and the price tags they are willing to pay.

I guess with the recent auction sale we can anticipate any KAWS print will sky rocket in value on the secondary.
Now to troll every Art museum in the country in hopes of scoring the next scrap.

Now a Market Star, KAWS Will Get a Survey at His Hometown Brooklyn Museum—Even Though It Initially ‘Didn’t See the Appeal’
The graffiti artist-turned-market darling is here to stay, apparently.

It helps when you donate a few hundred prints to the museum that sell for $1k each. He scratches their back, they give him an exhibit.gorkie wrote:Now a Market Star, KAWS Will Get a Survey at His Hometown Brooklyn Museum—Even Though It Initially ‘Didn’t See the Appeal’

I don’t buy the “didn’t see the appeal,” I think this has been in the works for a while now. Faile/bast and espo exhibited there recently. Swoon even did something there. Kaws is based out of Brooklyn and has been involved with the museum for a long time. Seems like an obvious no brainer to me.
they also had one or two paintings hanging in the lobby at that time as well. that's why I don't get the ‘Didn’t See the Appeal’ comment.dss111 wrote:the brooklyn museum had two gigantic kaws statues in their lobby for like a year around the time of the faile exhibit, so...
I got the impression dat dat comment referred to "initially" as in a long time ago, not in recent history where they're obviously in love with duke. Of course fartnet is going to use dat as the headline to get eyeballs on it tho.
