I got these 2 in over the weekend. Both from Alex Louisa. The beetle is oil on aluminum and the butterfly is watercolor on paper (obv)

Ledbetter Point Santa Barbara by Jeff Campbell.
JC was my baseball coach and occasional sub teacher at my high school in Oregon.
Turns out he grew up directly above LB beach and now resides in Goleta.
I ended up living for years above Ledbetter as well in the 90’s... about 100 yards away.
Still my favorite beach.

With a deep frame. Here’s one of mine. You won’t need glass as I assume it’s a “flat” piece and not an assemblage with stuff sticking off it like this guy. But that is one way to go.

Another option might be a “float frame” if it looks right with the piece. They don’t actually come right up to the edge of the art. Usually set off by 1/8” or 1/4”, but will essentially hide the sides. It’d have to be a pretty deep one tho. Not sure I’ve seen deeper than 1.5”

Some of my deepest pieces have no frame on them at all. They are deep, but thin wood faces and thick wood sides. But hollow inside. Called a cradled panel. The artists painted the sides a solid color, so they hang frameless. I’ve got 4 such pieces in the room I’m sitting in now. Deepest is probably 2” deep.

At 2” deep, The real issue is how damn heavy is it?
You may need a cleat to hang it and not have it rip out of the wall. The first piece I showed is very heavy. Had to hang it with a Z cleat.
