It really is amazing. In a recent interview, Aron said his painting technique is inspired by the Old Masters. The rendering of the girl's hands in this painting leaves no doubt in my mind.

Thanks trew

Thank phishstix!

This may have been posted before, but I think it is rather beautiful and worth a repost...

When Aron was asked about the piece Sect, this is what he said about it.

"I think of her as quietly participating in the hidden activities of nature, spiders, etc. She is sort of swallowed up by the leaves, almost becoming a part of the forest. The title puts a religious spin on that, in a not-so-innocent, cultish way. But I think she is very pure though (perhaps because she is still young) I think of her as having found this spider web, and ever so gently pulled it up and holds it undamaged, coveting it in a sort of reverie over the perfection of it. One theme is a contrast between beauty and danger, like the web, she is perhaps caught up in a oppressive cult. There is also a theme of patterns, the print on her dress mimics the pattern of the web and the leaves, which reinforces her participation in the beauty and surprising geometric order that nature can produce- freedom vs. order"

^1000steps - more spiders but this time an artwork. Maybe an effort to domesticate those darker fears and loathings.

I like it, falstaff. You can psychoanalyze me anytime.

Some spiders I find loathsome; others I find beautiful and transcendent. Why? Both spiders are no doubt quite similar in their patterns of behavior.

Yet the colorful garden spider on its symmetrical web suggests a world vested with calm, order, and subtle allure, while the big, hairy wolf spider hiding up there in the shadowy corner of the garage implies a world of predatory threat and sudden horror.

Both visions are true. A rare creature, the spider nimbly embodies both.
