My vote goes to Slater - anyone who knows me at all knows I'm a big fan.... But the reason I'm a big fan is precisely why I'd want his work on the island. In my opinion, he excels at diversity of design, so I think that would keep my interest longer than any other collection. Interesting topic....

I went with Rob Jones because with that much time on my hands I could finally figure out all the hidden meanings within the posters or it might just drive me crazy and I would drink saltwater to kill myself quicker.
tough decision. where are the malleus fans ?
i had to vote for alan forbes. i just got this special piece up on my wall at home and its the best thing since breasts.

Audrey Kawasaki. No brainer.
this aggression will not stand, man.
Some interesting results thus far...
I'd like to take my Firehouse posters. The Rodney Dangerfields of the poster community!
no comment ®
Tough call between Horkey and Rogers for me, but in the end I had to go with JR.

I went with Banksy
I could sell his work for enough to buy a boat to get off the island

What's REALLY funny as hell is that someone thinks that somehow, in being BANISHED to a DESERTED island, that they will still be able to find a market for their greed.greasy wrote:stonewastheproblem wrote:I went with Banksy

So, basically, they are choosing the 'market value' of Banksy to comfort them for the rest of their lives instead of some quality art?

hide the tequilla , they should be on the list . They've been at it a long time and have gone a long way from ridding the bus with screens to clean out at car washes , touring Europe when no one else was , to putting together a hella rad series for a prominent venue in SF
shoot , move and communicate - 125th SIG BN saying

OK no, poll is perfect. I agree on Jeff Boyes, I should have included him.
I don't consider Burlesque to be a 'collective' persay. I view them more as a studio who puts out work from multiple artists. Each individual signs their individual art; they don't sign everything 'collectively' as Burlesque.
Methane and Firehouse are both studios as well but, do function more as a collective I suppose; so, maybe I should have included them as well.
Bottom line is that if someone REALLY wanted to vote for an artists not on the list; just saying so in a comment should suffice.
Interesting results so, far. Seems like Mr. Fairey gets some mad flipper love on this site but, isn't holding up well as a viable deserted island companion.
OK. Go ahead and bring more materialistic possesions with you that will be completely worthless on your DESERTED island. You are totally missing the concept here. It's YOU, some ART, and an ISLAND, for the rest of your life. You are BANISHED. You have no communication with the outside world.stonewastheproblem wrote:gungywump wrote:What's REALLY funny as hell is that someone thinks that somehow, in being BANISHED to a DESERTED island, that they will still be able to find a market for their greed.greasy wrote:stonewastheproblem wrote:I went with Banksy

here maybe this will help. From Wikipedia:
In this instance there is no 'group' it's just YOU. All alone. 'Cut off from civilization.'The term deserted island, refers to an island which is uninhabited or sparsely inhabited. Such islands are commonly invoked in metaphor, literature, and the popular imagination, as a place where individuals or small groups of people find themselves marooned or castaway, cut off from civilization.
Anyway, good luck with your laptop, wifi, cell phone, and all of your Banksy art.
