Found this quote on a random art site... (very interesting)

“I was told by someone very very very close to Banksy that Mr. Brainwash is a “Banksy prank” aimed to prove he can start from nothing and build a brand from the ground up again. Which is why when you look at the show there is thousands of dollars worth of custom made props all paid for by Banksy. I was told that Banksy will announce he is behind Mr. Brainwash in April-May 2009. What I find funny though is how all of the garbage that is being sold through the name Mr. Brainwash will probably be worth as much as the Bansky stuff when it all goes public. Proving once again people are whores for brand names.”

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that Mr. Brainwash (if he's not Banksy ) is intended to be satire of the whole "street art" scene. Basically, he throws a bunch of overly cheesy fudge out there and laughs at people when they take it seriously. The sad thing is, it often times is better and deeper than a lot of the "street art" being produced right now.

It is going to be funny if it turns out to be a con artist that is taking all the money and spread the roomer. has anyone actually received a print?

Since there are many prints and you folks are asking questions, we can centralize the discussion here.

I'll start, I figured that this could be a huge scam. So did some investigation. Found some clues...

1st clue. Ordering different prints from http://www.artshow2008.com/ leads to different payee names in paypal. This turned out to be a bug in the storefront.

2nd clue. There are rumors that Bansky may be a part of it.

Ordering RunDMC paypals to dhealy@cox.... Looking up likely name Dan Healy i found this page http://www.artslant.com/global/artists/ ... iel-healey

Both the obama superman and star wars when to ITSAWONDERFUL-WORLD.COM. This scared me a bit because that website is just spam junk. Then I looked up who owns the site. It is Guetta, Thierry t@3efilm.com. Typing in the URL http://www.3efilm.com gets you to here http://liferemotecontrolthemovie.com/main.htm. Play the trailer and you will see some of the prints.

Google "Guetta, Thierry" and you will find http://www.flickr.com/photos/catheadsix/2592349144/ among other stuff. That person is a "French filmmaker who became so obsessed with the street artists" apparently.

yeah, apparently it's some rich individual (perhaps with the backing of banksy) that hires actual street artists to create things; but then puts on a show and takes credit.

Has anyone here every actually received anything form Mr. Brainwash? Or has anyone ordered anything a while ago and not received it?

This may help people feel better about their orders.
