+1 on your feeling toward the overabundance of floating head posters. With regard to Chueh, my question is when do get to the point where it is one bear too many.fourputt wrote:Luke Chueh. Can somebody please explain what the bears symbolize and why people buy these paintings that look no better than a high schooler's doodle? And while I understand that this is a poster forum, I cannot stand all the film and TV posters that are simply a collage of the characters' faces. Talk about uninspired and utterly boring. What's the point? I know this one will hurt some folks but I had to get it off my chest.

from Luke - "Most of my work, in one form or another, is autobiographical. When I was trying to put together my voice, I was looking at a lot of work by artists like Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara. I was interested in the fact that they had mascots they built their worlds around, and I wanted to do something like that. So I created what is essentially, for lack of a better word, this 'bear' character."

Marko Manev - these Star Wars prints going on sale today at BNG are pretty boring IMO
His super hero black and whites are what first attracted me, mainly xmen. They look great. Then he was involved in some Prometheus controversy where Mondo canceled the sale of his print. Since then he has been a polarizing figure. Its unfortunate but there was never a clear cut answer. More leaning to Marko got the shaft.
