Looks like I've lucked into one of the extra spots. See y'all Saturday or sooner if you're going to Hua Tunan's show...jayryan wrote:Dudes -
Confession: I've had a confusing bit of maintaining records for the May 2 Workshop. We've had a couple folks cancel, and a couple spots have been filled. Right now I am not 100% certain about a couple of the spots, but I BELIEVE I have one new opening. If anyone wants to come, email me - thebirdmachine@gmail.com - cost is $100. Saturday May 2, 10am-4pm in Skokie, Illinois.
Assholes get elected, cause assholes get to vote.
EDIT - THIS SPOT GOT FILLED DAMN SWIFTLY.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning, I just had someone drop for Saturday, which is unfortunately well within the non-refund zone (7 days).
Does anyone else want to come in for this Workshop on Saturday? I just finished the drawing, and I've already hired extra help to maintain order (Ben "Landland" Chlapek, aka Never Sleeping).
I really want to find a way to keep everyone happy.

Just an FYI -
I went to Syracuse University a couple months ago to work with students. I met one of the graduate printmakers, named Landon Perkins. Landon and I hit it off, and we stayed in touch. He's a good dude, makes good work, and is hoping to continue printmaking in the wild once he has finished school about a year from now.
Landon asked me if he could come work here for the summer, and after I explained my inability to hire another assistant, and my hesitations about taking on interns, I relented, and he's on his way here next week.
He has started a Kickstarter to help cover the costs of his trip and the work he plans to make while here.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/15 ... nav_search
Aside from learning about how a real-world printshop operates, we will be collaborating on a print which he will be in charge of making over the summer. I will have copies for my subscribers, but his Kickstarter will be the only other way to get this [as-of-yet-un-made] print.
Just wanted to let you all know this was going on. Thanks.

Jay, is there a way to donate directly to Landon without having to sign up at kickstarter? Could you publish a paypal address for him that we could send a few dollars to.
