What is the general consensus on getting your print signed? Does it increase or decrease the the value if signed by the actor?

Depends on the actor (and print).

Example, I spend a lot of money on horror prints. One of the harder sought after prints I found to get was the nightmare on elm street from Jason Edmiston . If I got Robert englund to sign that would it hurt the value?

I feel like it would only increase the price. Placement of the signature is important to consider.

If it will bring you joy, then do it.

If you get it signed, all of your wildest dreams will come true and you'll want for nothing until you die peacefully in old age having achieved total enlightenment.

I got couple Stouts signed by Stan Lee couple years ago that I cherish that will never be for sale unless sh*t hits the fan. If it makes you happy, get it ! If you decide to sell theres a decent market for autograph movie prints on FB groups.

I used to think it was cool, now I look at actor signatures and wonder what the drymount I was thinking.

Kind of where I’m stuck. I never want to ruin a nice piece of art but I guess it’s all in the owners opinion on what they like.

I have a couple prints that are signed by actors, but I went with prints that are pretty easy to get and don't already hold much value, i.e. Peak's NOES3 (signed by Englund & Langenkamp). I think generally it decreases value unless you find someone who is into collecting prints AND autographs as well. Personally I've swapped to collecting original one-sheets and getting those signed by actors.

I get everything signed. And to me for example, getting an artist proof signed and having that limited number print is huge.

My 2¢
Be careful where they sign, and what they use to sign the print. I recommend getting those 'Sign Here' Post It Notes and always provide your own pencil for them to sign with. Many pens/markers will ruin the print over time.

Better yet, put the print in one of those archival sleeves with only a small section cut out where you want the sig. I always think back to that Stout The Thing that was ruined by John Carpenter signing right on the face.
