@gmidd
Don't believe ANYONE when they talk about creating a game and releasing it on a platform. Steam already banned anything related to NFTs/Crypto, so it sure won't be selling there. Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo I could see easily doing the same and they have a lengthy approval process on top of that. That means the theoretical "game" would only be playable in developer mode on consoles, and would only be available from outside of the Steam/Microsoft ecosphere for PC.

Plus, if these guys are scammers they're not very good at it. You can tell by the amount and frequency of updates that they're sinking a ton of time into this project. They're also setting up a review board of sorts with early adopters where they'll let you see what they're working on and be beta testers for various things. And they're not really hyping the project right now because they want to focus on the game and underlying tech first. They did one invite contest in the few weeks I've been following along and they do a few social posts but that's really it.
I'd say that most of these generative art projects seem to be a ton of hype with little to no utility so I don't see the majority of them lasting. This one has a ton of possible utility so I'm willing to take a risk on it. I feel like the Meta Thug I bought is way more risky than the HappyAstronauts. That one is a ton of hype! There is some underlying utility but if those guys wanted to bail they'd make out like bandits. The Astronauts are relatively cheap right now so even if it folds I'm not out that much and the project creators are definitely not getting rich.
If you look at the PFP stuff like BAYC, it's quickly turning into a dumb social club for the rich. Assuming the path continues, it may be viewed as something like an AMEX Centurion Card for the "ultra wealthy"...or everyone loses interest over the next 5 years and it dies off. Something else always comes around. The technology will change.
Game development takes YEARS. This project was on Kickstarter in 2014 and just released in Sept 2021 - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/50 ... escription
Additionally, do you think a game is going to be sustainable if it's limited to NFTs to play and you need pay XX,XXX just to get the NFT to play the game?
All this roadmap talk is exactly what was happening during the ICO bubble and seems to be happening again. The majority of these projects will disappear and shut everything down and make off with your money.
Any corporation that is looking into blockchain will be deploying their own private chain that doesn't incur insane gas/transaction fees. They want to keep the profits for the company. Bitcoin has been around since 2011 and Ethereum since 2015. We are almost in 2022 and look at the lack of progress that has taken place. Just speculation on crypto, altcoins of no purpose, the ICO bubble of a few years back, and now the NFT bubble. The cycle is repeating and will continue.
And for all the hype of HA, they've been posting on Reddit for two months hyping it https://www.reddit.com/user/HappyAstronauts/ and have minted a total of 76 NFTs https://opensea.io/collection/happy-astronauts-v2
Haha, yeah, they've posted 19 times in 2 months on Reddit. If that's your idea of someone "hyping" a project then you haven't been paying attention lately. Like I said if this is a pump-and-dump scheme they're pretty terrible at it. And they've actually minted 169. The 76 you linked to are the ones that were minted after they implemented the smart contract to lower gas prices. They still need to migrate the others over (https://opensea.io/collection/happyastronauts)
Assuming they sell out, which doesn't seem likely, at .05ETH currently (~207 USD), they would clear 2,070,000 USD for a some images plugged into a generative image maker https://blog.kreechures.com/generative-nfts/
They haven't even started any actual marketing yet so it's hard to say whether or not they'll sell out. Either way, if you've been following along like I have, they've been doing a lot more than just "plugging some images into a generative image maker".
Someone with a Twitter account should reach out to Microsoft, Xbox, and Sony Playstation and see if they are indeed technology partners like they claim.
WTF is Crypto Art?
All good man! I'm not sweating it. Like you said, sometimes you have to take a chance. If it works it works. if not, I lose a couple of days worth of pay. That's pretty much what we're all doing with these things anyway right?acidburn wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 11:40 pmYou waste more energy complaining about this then any sort of crypto.
Imagine you dedicated this much energy into something productive?
You’re seriously in a poster forum talking about hating crypto/nfts more the anyone discussing liking it .
GMID - you don’t have to explain yourself to him. You bought into something you like and if it succeeds it succeeds. If it fails it fails. You found something you like and you’re taking that chance it might do well. And if it doesn’t, you learn and move on. I’ve invested in many stocks that have done terrible. Everything from penny stocks to Pharma. fudge works out and many dont . I will say one thing and that’s I probably lost way more in not taking some chances. Do what’s best for you. Good luck with the project. Hope it works out.
That being said, I forgot I had some WAX in my wallet from a few months back when I sold one of the Street Fighter NFT cards that I completely forgot about. Looks like it's worth about 50-60% more than the last time I checked it.
this looks incredibly sketch to me. who are the devs? have they shipped a game before? i hope they all have and shipped a few at that. i wish them luck but what they are promising makes me weary. sounds like 5-6y worth of work for a small team. just so you have a reference. ratchet and clank for the ps3 took a team of ~75 people a year to develop / test and ultimately ship. thats around $5m. for a very very experienced team with multiple games under their belt. and this is after the game was already prototyped and ready for production. it took Jonathan Blow 7 years to finish The Witness with a team of around 11 with a budget of around $6m.GmidD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:58 pmI minted one of the Meta Thugs (https://www.metathugs.io/) during the presale on Sunday. It was almost purely a hype-based decision though. I do dig the art but they've also been generating a lot of buzz and have amassed over 108k+ discord, 26k+ Instagram, and 17k+ Twitter followers so I figured I'd give it a shot. Presale mint price was 0.1 eth, but the gas was crazy so it ended up costing a decent amount. We'll see how it goes. They sold like 5.7k during the presale and the rest go on sale tomorrow I think for 0.15 and the floor on OS is above what I paid so so far so good I guess, haha.MaxCollinsII wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 4:39 pmWhich project??? and I too will see what gas looks like when this drops
It's really hard to tell what the hell is going to happen with all this stuff, haha. I see some really hyped projects completely fail and I lost a few hundred on one that went under. My two favorites right now are HappyAstronauts (Discord: https://discord.gg/FjMja3K2sG Website: https://happyastronauts.com/) and NFTeams (Website: https://www.nfteams.club/ Discord: https://discord.gg/XyttFE767J).
I seriously recommend checking out HappyAstronauts though! The guys running it seem like an incredibly sharp group. I guess they used to develop AI models for corporations, governments and banks and they're working on some seriously impressive tech. It's still super early and you can get in cheap because they've been focusing on developing the game and platform before they start marketing pushes which is smart. Plus they implemented that smart contract I mentioned earlier so gas is way cheaper. I'm not really a gamer but the stuff they're working on sounds awesome. Here's a quick breakdown they posted on discord the other day...
Quick top level project breakdown......
1) OG Happy Astronauts NFT Collection...will fully integrate into the game and metaverse ecosystem we are developing.
2) We are releasing a Coin called ASTRO which will be used in game as well as in the metaverse ecosystem. It will also be used like other coins on the ethereum blockchain.
3) Our game Happy Astronauts is under development and being built on the Unreal Engine 5. It have several different game modes Creative, Adventure, Battle Royal, etc. It will be release on Xbox, Playstation, PC, and eventually Nintendo
4) You will be able to explore and buy land in the game as NFTs
5) All in game purchases such as skins, loot crates, "battle passes", etc are NFTs
6) This is a new one that we really haven't talked about but there will be in game treasure hunts across the entire planet to win prizes, NFTs, Crypto, etc.
7) We are developing the tech to fully integrate NFTs, Crypto, and Blockchain into existing game engines such as Unreal, Unity, etc.
We are developing a Metaverse Ecosystem called Zolodia that will literally include everything you do online, gaming, e-commerce and so much more built on it's own blockchain. We will be launching the desktop and mobile version of the initial hub first and then will roll out VR and AR support.
9) All of your NFTs in the Zolodia Metaverse Ecosystem will be usable in all games and across the Metaverse Ecosystem.
10) More to come........
And here's a link to the game teaser they released last week...

And here's an image they posted that summarizes the benefits of getting in on the first 200 mints (they're around 170ish now)...
i'm so tired of all these projects with their fake avatars and first names promising the world and 90% with 0 proven experience in what they say they will deliver.
don't get me wrong maybe they know what they are doing. but i personally won't invest in any project i don't know the real people running it.

Thanks again for the info man! You and derivative may be right but I don't have that much into it and don't plan on dropping anymore in anytime soon so at the very least it'll be a fun follow with some interesting conversations, haha. I'm not a developer but I do work as an Ops manager for a software company so I'm not totally out of my league here and from the conversations I've had with the team on Discord, they seem to know what they're talking about. Either that or they're good at faking it, haha. I realize that it's entirely possible that this whole project may never actually take off, but it doesn't scream scam to me like some of these others. Who know though? They said some big updates are coming soon so we'll see what happens.papaver wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:46 amthis looks incredibly sketch to me. who are the devs? have they shipped a game before? i hope they all have and shipped a few at that. i wish them luck but what they are promising makes me weary. sounds like 5-6y worth of work for a small team. just so you have a reference. ratchet and clank for the ps3 took a team of ~75 people a year to develop / test and ultimately ship. thats around $5m. for a very very experienced team with multiple games under their belt. and this is after the game was already prototyped and ready for production. it took Jonathan Blow 7 years to finish The Witness with a team of around 11 with a budget of around $6m.GmidD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:58 pmI minted one of the Meta Thugs (https://www.metathugs.io/) during the presale on Sunday. edit: so went to sleep and wolves price was high. Woke up and things were still high but seemed like more wolves were being sold. Turns out someone exploited the contract to make sure they get a wolf. They stopped it within a few hours and working on a fix. However, you'd think it would have a negative effect on all but its doing the opposite. There is now a supply shock and everything is jumping. Sheep just hit 1 eth. They were .05 24 hours ago. Wolves were around .4 and now 3.15.
At what point do you think you will realize that these sales are scams to drive up the price?acidburn wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 10:39 amtook off in a day.HisBobness wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 12:41 amlol that looks rad!acidburn wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 7:38 amnever heard of it? did pick up a wolf yest https://www.wolf.game/ when prices were lower.

It's all public. Show me the "scam" sales and tell me why you think they are so
Scam sales? Yea no. I have 3 friends who have made anywhere from 10-50k in the last 24 hours and the money is in their account. This whole thing has been kind of crazy. I made that first post before everything happened today. I don't even know what to do because I can mint something else in the game.At what point do you think you will realize that these sales are scams to drive up the price?
No one will ever prove anything to you. Thats how this all works. You just have to know what works for you and thats all. It's all public. Show me the "scam" sales and tell me why you think they are so
And before reads this and says "see FINANCIAL BROS, thats what its all about!" This is a play to earn game so yea its all about making money. Its like an NFT casino with tokenomics.

Right what I'm saying is if someone comes in here yelling "SCAM YOU SO DUMB" I'd at least like to see some proof, considering all the transactions are public.acidburn wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 5:38 pmScam sales? Listen. Does the market have malicious people in it? Sure. Every market does. Newsflash. Major art auctions, many high profile ones are bid on by the gallery or friends of a gallery that are having a show next month. Its used as an advertising tactic. Does that mean all auctions are not good? No. Should we all be ashamed that we collect art and end it? No.
You can't just base an entire market on a small percentage who might be doing stupid things. Applies to anything.
