think it's just entering the next phase... pump and dump is harder. and more that get burned, more leave. for every winner there is a loser on the other side. crypto is still not safe to hold apparently. i remember when i was talking about mt. gox at the start of this thread and how unsafe it was. apparently that still holds.GoBluePanic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 8:13 pmIt's interesting that this thread just sort of died at the end of summer after being on fire for so long. Im definitely not encountering zomg NFTs plastered across all forms of media now either.
What happened? Did the market sort of flame out? How has the recent crypto developments, bitcoin plunging, FTX, affected the NFT market? Are people sitting on jpegs they paid way more for than they're valued now?
It seems like the popularity stayed contained to the people that were already involved in crypto in some form and never fully caught on in the mainstream despite being pumped pretty hard
but companies that see the advantage of using blockchain and NTFs will slowly enter the space. like reddit. but the tech will be invisible. and actually collecting will be the forefront. learning more toward the nifty gateway side of things. where cash is the onramp and offramp instead of crypto and the 6 months of education needed to get a wallet and then get scammed 2mo later.
the next phase of redeemed prints for me would be to be able to redeem using a credit card and just be charged $5 (or even maybe free) for gas or whatever the price. it goes into a controlled wallet. and anyone that wants to move it to a metamask wallet could.

the point of the blockchain is a distributed shared db. does a web shop offer that?derivitive wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 6:48 pm...like a web shop where you don't need crypto?papaver wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 5:56 pmthe next phase of redeemed prints for me would be to be able to redeem using a credit card and just be charged $5 (or even maybe free) for gas or whatever the price. it goes into a controlled wallet. and anyone that wants to move it to a metamask wallet could.

Literally every financial system has been doing this since the 2000s. Banks, credit cards, e-commerce stores, etc. It's why you don't hear about hacks even when a payment network is offline.papaver wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 2:14 amthe point of the blockchain is a distributed shared db. does a web shop offer that?derivitive wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 6:48 pm...like a web shop where you don't need crypto?papaver wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 5:56 pmthe next phase of redeemed prints for me would be to be able to redeem using a credit card and just be charged $5 (or even maybe free) for gas or whatever the price. it goes into a controlled wallet. and anyone that wants to move it to a metamask wallet could.
