Any news on the future of Nifty Gateway? Seems to be in a state of languish. The astronomical amount of money that has passed through that site in 2021 is astounding, yet they have not made a single update/improvement to the UX or platform that I can think of.

This NFT stuff enables next level insta flippage. Somebody bought #2147 for $6900 and sold it less than 10min later for $7900. They probably could have got more, but not bad for a few minutes' work.

I seem to know how to rile up the crowd. If anyone wants me to open up for them on the comedy circuit I’m for hire

nah brother you aren't riling us up and im sorry if i come back at you with my side of things. I'm obviously from the other camp.

You have 3 groups of ppl for posters right? Quick flip, potential long term investment or have fun with it and forget you have it. This market has all 3 of those things and its really not hard to learn.

Even if you think its so utterly stupid if you just learned it a little about it there are some projects that can be financially life changing and despite what ppl think, a lot of the people collecting this do love what they are collecting. They take pride in it.

For instance this is Fidenza by Tyler Hobbs

Released two months. Cost $170 and now go for $60k-$300k.

Nifty is a whole other story. I don't really ever discuss other companies because i feel its rude but being a buyer Im just disappointed in them. There is absolutely no customer service and I feel like I was duped into buying something where something was supposed to happen and it didn't.

(As I wrote this a Fidenza just went for $300k https://opensea.io/assets/0xa7d8d9ef8d ... 0/78000098)

I feel like even if I understood everything, I would just make poor financial decisions because I don't know good buys vs. bad.

That’s part of it all. For myself, at one point many many years ago I bought every single poster that came out and then I started realizing that’s probably not smart. Started focusing on a few artists. Picked other outlets.

I bought 5 pickles a month ago for $175 each (maybe more), They are worth $20 each now. It happens.

I mentioned Apes here a couple of times. Lowest one goes for $22,000 now.

I think NG is making a comeback especially this last week. There is a UX update coming soon in August. Hopefully a good overhaul to the entire site but I doubt it.

Plenty of other scraper sites that get me the info I need off NG so it doesn't bug me.

The CS is a little horrible and the owners are naïve on how they handle customer complaints and listening to customer ideas.

I have always liked the art and artists that NG carries. Generative art has yet to hit me in the heart like man-made NFTs and I cant seem to find and artist i really like. I think its interesting someone can write a program to create art but not sure on the overall long term value, either.

I am sure these comments wont age well.........we will see in a year.....

Damien Hirst laid off 63 people last autumn while claiming £15m in government Covid-19 loans

Full article is worth a read as it's an an interesting behind the scenes look in into his business over the last few years. Reminder that much of the art world is first and foremost a business.
