For the love of maps...
I'm a sucker for good looking maps, aesthetically pleasing maps. Could be real maps, fantasy ones, nautical, historical, vintage, modern, all styles of printing, etc. Essentially, all maps that look as good as art.
I haven't seen a thread on here like this so I figured it might be interesting to start.
- Do you have any cool maps in your collection? If so, show them off!
- Recommendations for custom map creators we should check out?
- Other maps you think are cool? Let us know.

Just wanted to let everyone on this forum know about this dude's work. Ran across him recently on the interwebz. He draws custom state maps in the style pioneered by JRR and Chris Tolkien. I don't have any connection to him but I recently bought the Texas map in the 20 x 16 inch size. Don't think they are limited editions or anything like that. Packaging was substandard but map arrived in fine shape. Good quality printing, heavy paper. Regardless, I recommend his work. He only has like 5 states as of now but my guess is he will continue building his portfolio.

I am a professional cartographer, feel free to send a DM if you have a custom mapping project - depending on time requirements I might be able to take on some fun/artsy side projects this summerjrsheppa wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 4:56 pmI'm a sucker for good looking maps, aesthetically pleasing maps. Another great map producer: Quail Lane Press.

All her maps are letterpress and incredibly high quality and look amazing. She is west coast focused but plenty of other maps. I have both the Scotland and Wine Country maps.

You might enjoy this illustrated book. I just found about it’s existence yesterday so I don’t have it yet. http://theislandreview.com/content/atla ... lustration

You must have read my mind. I've been watching Pawn Stars and there was an episode where he bought some maps in London. And it resurfaced my urge to get some maps for the house I plan to buy. Those letterpress maps look incredible, think I will pick up the Ireland and Newport one. Thanks!!

Yeah, I've actually been trying to convince her to do some fantasy maps (Middle Earth, Beleriand, Westeros) but I don't think she has gotten around to it yet.aldobishalini wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 5:43 pmYou must have read my mind. I'm also a huge fan of city maps, but they are a little tougher to find really quality ones.

Also, don't shop from the Etsy site. Charges for shipping and taxes. Buy directly from https://www.quaillanepress.com/ ... free shipping on domestic orders over $25. Ships flat too with USPS Priority Mail.aldobishalini wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 5:43 pmYou must have read my mind. I love the maps available here. They seem they’ll look very nice on any wall.

Whatever you do, avoid Goodwin's World Travelers from the past few years. It's as big a rabbit hole as posters were once long ago. Mainly because I'm comfortable at the current price point and will rue leveling this among all of you. Ha! Please make it stop. I've almost completed the entire $7 Rand McNally for Charleston within a couple hundge. Now I'll trade emeks for sphinxes. Maybe it's the space saving storage and cheaper framing? Thank goodness they pulled UD's MLB license.

Haven't bought prints from either shop yet so can't vouch for quality but I like the design for both.

Found these recently. Old maps made to look 3D and printed as giclees on thicker paper. Order the Iceland one and it looks phenomenal
