Repeated failips will inevitably lead to unsold paper stacks or smaller runs on the long run. No gallery/artist wants that. Paper needs to hold value or you'll soon enough look like you're overpricing your fudge. Seems obvious.

Not really. Almost every Geddes is a failip and his timed editions still go bonkers in the run dept. Same with almost every jean. the Struz's will continue to sell out to #trufans and EBers alike.

And Keyes went from flip of the year to failip of the year to reposting Instagram reminders that the horse print is still available to purchase. I'm sure we can find plenty of examples on both sides of the fence.

Totes diff story. Duke changed his style and thought he could sell prints like he was with the old style. Also it ain't a failip if EBers aren't dumb enough to try to flip it in the first place.

Well I'd say the run as to sell out in the first place, before the flip attempt and the failip result, but good point on Keyes change of style.

Better thread would be how many failips you bought this year and how much you spent on them.

I never said that they cared, I said that 90% of the time it is due to their mishandling of a project, not the art.

back to failips, we got off topic here peeps.

I had one with the Chuck Sperry Primus this last year. Ended up selling for less than cost.

Not really. 90% of the time the failip is on the EBer buying some fudge they don't like thinking they can make a quick buck and not understanding the market. As long as a release sells well the gallery/artist has "handled the project" exactly as they intended to.

It’s really not a big deal, no one is calling out individual people/ridiculing others. It’s just a silly thread to poke fun at aftermarket fails/duds. Chillax fam
Yeah there's no disrespect here, I thought we were talking about our own failips. I have had plenty. That fuckng obey 21 print. Way too many of those

Too good and not entirely unrelated points.

That was 1 of my favorite pick-ups of '17. Not sure why, but really dig the design & color scheme :pint:
