Picked this up at a local thrift store ... google googles couldn't help me, and neither could a simple search of the word/name on the bottom. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That was considered, but the style is different, and the artist signature (if that is what is at the bottom) is nothing like Demagny's signature The two letters within the box appear to be an R and L. Or maybe an R and U

It's "R. Demagny." Check out the signature on this piece. Nice little thrift find.

True, but it's not all that uncommon for an artist's sig to evolve over time. Or maybe he signed prints differently than paintings? Who knows? Either way, I bet your $30 thrift find is worth at the least a couple hundred to the right buyer.

I've picked up some nice art from Maryland area thrift stores.

I think the issue was that there are two similar-named artists. Some friends were pointing to a Marcel Demangy (which would seem to negate the "R" in the box). At least I can now research this better.

Thanks again to all!
