Who are the other folks in art making photorealistic graphite drawings of birds that are on the level of Vanessa? Anyone?

So an update for those that missed the drop; I emailed her on Friday and she got back to me and said she had no idea how many people were into those bees and she thought she would have a bunch left over and be giving them to family for xmas presents. It definitely explains why she put them up when she did.

As far as her commission list goes, she's booked until about May 2016 for anyone interested. It was premature to ask prices but I'm certainly getting on the list. A few months isn't too long to wait for one of her pieces imo.

I started this piece in the summer and sadly had to put it to one side for a while, so it feels so good and really healthy to finally be able to finish off this painting before the year is out! This piece is oil on deep cradled wood panel and is heading on its merry way to @antler very soon

Thought I'd share a bit of my process in the creation of this latest one as its a pretty new way of working for me and your guess is as good as mine if it will turn out ok! And at least if it goes badly I can share my despair instead of crouched in a corner of my studio alternately weeping and snarling So in this picture I've shown a very rough sketch of an idea I've had rattling around for a while, this piece will be about homesickness and I couldn't think of a better bird to portray that than the barn owl whose loss of habitat is threatening its status. I've also pictured the very first monochrome oil layer, this is the bit that's new to me. I really enjoyed putting this layer on, it was great to just focus on the form, lights and darks of the painting. I've seen other artists get great results working this way, so I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed it works for me too!

I haven't seen an announcement. They just popped up a few days ago, and a few more added yesterday.
