did sort of go off the rails. anyone who thinks obama is a communist or a socialist or uses those words interchangeably is likely just completely ignorant of the meaning of the words. He is probably a progressive capitalist, as are most Americans i would think.
to ignore the impact that the US has had on degrading infrastructure in the region is probably also a little myopic. Certainly we will at some point have to acknowledge our role in the destruction of some key parts of the cultural heritage, and likely we should applaud our role in some preservation efforts. But certainly the illegal trade in antiquities is a big deal and was funded for centuries by the west, but that is likely a different discussion.
I may be a bit to pragmatic on this one though. We have seen so many regimes attempt to eradicate contradictory history that is just seems to be par for the course. 1984 does such a nice job of bringing the ancient practice into the semi modern era. I suppose it is interesting though. In the modern era it seems so hard to destroy information that the new strategy is not to burn or destroy but to dilute. You put out so much dis"information" as to dilute the reality, i.e. dont look at that over there, think about what color this dress is.

The reason the Bush family is where they are is solely because of stolen art, stolen heirlooms, and stolen money.
The US Govt actually had to shut them down for laundering money for the Nazis.
