You could restrict the limit simply by posting in the item description that anyone who checks out with more than one will be refunded for all of them.

That makes sense. I will keep that method in mind for future original art sales.
I'm listening to my wife for this one, though. She's been trying to get me to raise my prices for a long time, and this way I outta find out a good base level price for my work.

Shake down any of your chums, croonies, acquaintances, colleagues, sympathizers, compadres, associates, contemporaries, or well-wishers for a TL&Rx gp and we can make a deal for some of this so called money.
Would you consider having a starting bid at $40 (or less) and then a Buy-It-Now option at $80? That way you can see which types of works, or themes, sell better at different price points.
For example, if someone buys a sketch outright at $80, then you know that someone is willing to pay that amount for a piece of that nature. But if someone places a bid instead of buying it outright, then you'll still see where the price ends up being. The varied end price can help you gauge what would be better themes to sketch on for next time (e.g. Horkey birds, movie archetypes, etc.) The lower price point will attract more people to bid on your sketches in the first place to make sales.

I realize this crowd isn't thrilled with the decision, but a LOT of other folks, friends and family and their co-workers, etc... all want a shot at getting one too. This keeps the window open longer for more people to get involved.

and that is exactly why I am doing this. So people who WANT the drawings will be able to get them, not someone looking to get my work for cheap.peternel wrote:just lost interest in buying one

A better idea of the market value of your art (definitely more than $40) and more dollars in your pocket? I don't see the problem. Best of luck!

It's the best way to go about it for sure. Absolutely get what the drawings are worth! Just stop putting it on your wife & own it.fanboy wrote:A better idea of the market value of your art (definitely more than $40) and more dollars in your pocket? I don't see the problem. Best of luck!
