decker3984 wrote:My only objective criticism w/ the letterpress prints, the ink *could* definitely be a MUCH darker black. The artwork is FVCKING INSANE. But the printer really could have done a somewhat better job, IMO. And I'm not saying it is easy getter SUPER dark blacks and an even impression for LP as a printing format. I know that was one of the big challenges that the now defunct DAP faced with Suites 1&2.
agree.

Okay, said I would try to post some pics...
Took three and this was the only one that wasn't *complete* garbage.

Don't judge the print by my shitty photography. May try to take some better pics in daylight, if time permits.

Matt, that is one of the worst photographs I've ever seen, haha. Also, I'm biased, but the blacks look pretty dang black to me.

But Holt's/Griffin was THE best print at Hyperstoic. Hands down. Agreed upon unanimously by four ROBO members. Yes. It is *that* damn good.
Been waiting on the extras from Hyperstoic to be dropped... :cussing:

Hopefully I will be able to judge these blacks for myself if this drop goes smooth for me. Can't remember the last time I was on P&T for a release, might be a bit rusty.

I wasn't trying to talk fudge. But if you were to do a side by side comparison of any of the prints from Suite 1&2 vs. Brandon's letterpress prints...
I think that Aaron's / Bieb(l)er's (sp?) would prove to be much darker black. But in the case of Suite 1&2 you had an obsessive compulsive that
had been making a living creating prints for the better portion of a decade, that had to approve the proofs and you had another
obsessive compulsive (Aaron's former business partner, Greg) overseeing production in CA and they went through MULTIPLE rounds of proofs,
that came to be rejected for that very reason. So, for a tattoo artist that has now released a handful of INCREDIBLY impressive prints...
And it being is first time EVER venturing into a LP format... They turned out great! So, I guess what I am saying is that no comparison
is *really* necessary... Kind of apples and oranges. But the blacks (*this time) just weren't as deep and rich as the standard that DAP set,
in MY mind.

Good point. And No, I hadn't forgotten. Well, maybe momentarily. Or maybe in my head I wasn't "counting" the chess pieces...

For a lack of a better picture of *just* the Rook. And being too lazy to take another.
