It didn't get studio approval in time.

To be honest, and i know others have mentioned this as well, i'd rather an artist be given the opportunity to see a film first before trying to create a print for it. You almost always end up with a better (or at least more faithful) image. That doesn't always align with good business strategy since movie hype is a thing. But i guess what i mean is it isn't everything. Rushing a release so it's out opening day of a movie isn't always the best thing to do.
So it goes...

The problem with that is that studios probably don't give two craps when the artist creates the poster, unless it's being overseen by someone like Guillermo Del Toro who's a poster/art fanboy himself and gets the importance of it all. Otherwise it's just $$$ and hype factor for the film.

Normally I'm on the team of preferring the artist seeing the movie first...but for a Marvel ensemble cast movie like Civil War I think there's enough source material to not have to wait. I think Mondo has a great track record with Marvel posters. Including those released day of the movie.

I hear ya there. Hugh was the perfect dude for that role. I like Wolverine too, but i haven't seen an X-MEN movie since.... Well, idk, the second Wolvie flick maybe? He has right? Lol i'm so far behind...

I agree. But because I'm in a devil's advocate kinda mood, I will say that I've seen several films where the trailer was better than the movie. For example, Lucy. My God what were they thinking.

Remember when Mondo fleeced all those people by selling them Stout and Moss Star Wars prints? The people who bought those were suckers.
