I don't hate it as much as you do. Or dislike if hate is too strong, but I do agree about the white outline seeming like a "godzilla just isn't popping, we need a quick way to make him pop". To me the image sorta reminds me more of Ortiz's charcoal work, where he does a lot more of shadows/shading implying form. Which I could see in theory working with the image of Godzilla in an avante garde sorta way.
