Mondo Poster News & Rumors
Let’s face it, this scene blossomed in 2008, bloomed from 08 to 15ish and has been over saturated and dying since then, maybe before. Still sad to see the end of an era. But if I am being honest, out of all the art I own, only a couple of pieces are Mondo releases at this point. Regardless, I hope all those guys land on their feet. They should be proud of everything they’ve done.

I used my golden ticket from PCC Mask of the Phantasm several times.ygolohcysp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 1:56 pmlol i still have one! although they said it was to expire after a yeardodgers77 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 1:52 pmWas looking forward to a new gallery space and MondoCon in the future. Well, damn. This is legitimately sad news.
As evidenced by Funko's decision, there's so little appreciation for art direction. It was always one of controversial aspects of Mondo but it's also what put them in their own league. They could have scaled the company to make a lot more money but they kept the output limited in an effort to maintain their high level of quality. I have endless respect for Mitch, Rob, and the gang for sticking to their vision and giving us amazing art for the last 15 or so years.
Hugs all around. Hope everyone here is doing alright these days.

3206 pages later... think this is the longest thread in the entire forum... can't say i'm surprised, funko seems badly managed as drymount...

Couldn’t have said it better, genuinely saddened by all this, just another example of big corp and bad management ruining fudge for everyone.theperfecttree wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 6:10 pmWell, damn. This is legitimately sad news.

I am hopeful that this might resurrect/expand Posters and Toys and The Vacvvm since they are still Mitch’s babies (presumably?)
Wouldn’t you say that Bottleneck has really taken the major market share lately? Mondo was king when I got involved in 2011. Just don’t see enough quality over the last 3-4 years and I see more work from BNG that is being purchased by the masses. I am very happy to see my Dune variant by Rory Kurtz though

A lot of people coming in here sad but Mondo hasn't been good for years now. As soon as the Stout, Moss, Horkey, Ansin, Taylor era of prints flipping was over and Justin Ishmael left, the company died. Nobody is getting excited for We Buy Your Kids prints and Wrath of Kahn vinyl. When was the last time anyone was excited for a Mondo release? I have a lot of fond memories buying the early stuff though. Seeing Tyler Stout metal Iron Man II print hanging around the online store and not instantly selling out were wild times.

mondo was like a loved one with dementia
the gallery had some fun shows way back when
I think rob said he started it all so he didn't have to wait in line for movies
