Update: After publishing the article, a representative speaking on behalf of Funko reached out to us to say that "layoffs did take place" and "the poster business will continue."

Most news articles I’ve seen have updated to that. Funko doing some damage control.

Yea makes no sense why they'd kill the poster bidniz altogether. Just think they have their own "creative directors" they'd rather plug in who will kowtow to Funko's brand identity. Ya'll will still be buying the next time there's a ZOMG drop no matter who's running the show.

I wonder how many of the old artist pool will continue to work with them?

^ Now that is funny!

Would probably fit the “corporate goals” though. He would easily sell most or all of that stock they are dumping to the garbage in mystery tubes/boxes with proper bait and hype/advertising.

Per someone on FB posted. I mean this is kinda close to the truth.

“ I asked Chat GPT to write a short story about how Funko killed Mondo. Here’s what it wrote.

Once upon a time, Mondo was a thriving company that produced high-quality posters, vinyl records, and collectible items for pop culture enthusiasts. However, things took a turn for the worse when Funko, a giant in the collectibles industry, acquired Mondo.

At first, Mondo employees were hopeful that this would lead to exciting new collaborations and increased exposure for their brand. However, it quickly became apparent that Funko had no interest in preserving Mondo's unique identity and artistic vision.

One by one, Mondo's talented artists and designers were let go, replaced by Funko's own team of corporate-minded designers. The once-cherished limited edition releases were replaced with mass-produced, cookie-cutter merchandise.

Funko's greed knew no bounds, and they continued to drain Mondo's resources until the company was nothing more than a shell of its former self. Eventually, Mondo was shuttered entirely, its legacy and history wiped away by Funko's insatiable hunger for profit.

The community of collectors and fans mourned the loss of Mondo, a once-great company that had been destroyed by the corporate greed of Funko. In the end, it was clear that Funko had not only killed Mondo, but also its spirit and creativity. “

Just heard the news, I've been collecting for years, some of my first memorable Mondo acquisitions were Olly Moss and Stout Star Wars prints... I've been out of the loop for quite a while. I dunno I guess peoples tastes change, interests move in other directions etc... I was good for buying a print at least once a month if not more.... I just checked. I bought the Scott C. Far Away Galaxy in 2020, before that was a Stout Civil War in 2017..... all the the toys and tiki mugs weren't for me. Mondo was the king for quite a while. RIP

Never met any of you geezers at a mondo show. Although I think JoJo came out for the LA mystery movies and handed out pens? Am I making that up?

Also pretty sure Benelli and Bickel were up at the front of the line for Taylor/Stout. Maybe I am wrong about that too lol
I saw you all the time. :pint:
