People who think there are 'no good movies anymore' or 'nothing good gets released besides superhero movies' are lazy as drymount. and clearly dont really have a vested interest in seeing movies outside their comfort zone.

there are so many wild and wonderful movies that come out every year. big and small. if you aren't finding them its because you aren't looking.

living in NYC we are very spoiled in terms of our theaters and screenings. but even if you can't make it to the theaters everything ends up on streaming.
Agreed. MCU, Star Wars are obviously the heavy hitters. But to say there aren’t any good movies is a bit of a stretch for me as well. And like you said, you may have to look for them but they are most definitely there. The last decade alone has produced some of my favorite horror movies of all-time just to exemplify one genre.

Nobody said there aren't any good movies anymore.

The drafthouse in here downtown LA had pretty consistent crowds since it opened. They also had really good rocky horror picture-like events that sold out really quickly.

It helps that the actual theatres only fit like 40 or 50 people as opposed to the LA Live theatre down the street that fit 400 people per theatre. I think there will still be a market for these smaller / boutique chains but I don't see it going well for the bigger ones.

havent been to a movie theater in over a decade
Why.....?
MCU
LOL, glad someone else thinks the MCU is trash. Cinemas got rid of film, replaced it with digital copies of movies, MCU comes busting in with full CGI scenes (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑. In what world could a movie that 80% CGI get nominated for best cinematography?
Not explicitly, but thats the idea here, from a guy saying he hadn't been to a theater in a decade, someone saying its the MCU films, then a third saying that MCU is trash, digital projection, and whatever else he's babbling about. So like 2-3 people.

Its a casual insinuation in the above comments. But something I hear from many of people both here and elsewhere.

No biggie.

I understand a lot of the animosity towards CGI, and I often harbor some of those sentiments myself, but I think we can also appreciate the artistry and hard work that goes into making something look beautiful on the screen. Certainly not liking the look is valid, but I am glad that VFX artists do get some recognition, even if it's not "traditional"

Its a grower, i like it. Bagged a reg today since it was still available but can't say i was blown away when it was first revealed. The colours on the reg are so much better than the variant.
