Hua Tunan (Chen Yingjie)
Sudan, prairie fire and life on dusk are all giclees. Screenprinting his work would be nearly impossible, unless he digitized every color layer as he went along the process. On top of that, his splatters mix as he creates them so nailing down the precise color in a ton of spots would be impossible and not turn out an acceptable product...according to Hua. He’s a meticulous dude.
Hua has a new show opening up this Friday at The Art Gallery in Chinatown (chicago). There are 11 pieces available for purchase. 2 of them are ink/watercolor on paper and the rest are on canvas....some of them are ENORMOUS (8x6’). All of them are being custom framed with museum archive materials at the gallery as well. They look GOOD. The gallery asked me to reach out to collectors who may want to purchase so if that’s you, hit me up with an email and I can assist in making that happen. They’ve also told me that payment plans will be accepted (terms to be negotiated by gallery/buyer). Hope to see some of you at the show. The work is truly amazing.

Wanda: I can't stand people. I hate them. Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

The prints were sold directly by the gallery. The eBay dude made a killing though. In person price was $380 plus taxes. Not sure if any are left. Ask David at the gallery if you’d like. He knows most.

Huh? How is the ebay duke "making a killing" by basically selling for face? I figured dat was the gallery and they were having trouble moving inventory.

I was being sarcastic. I’m going to ask the gallery if that’s their account. Interesting. It seems that it very well may be. I just texted him to find out. Had no clue. I saw a handful listed at $399 recently so I assumed it was someone that grabbed a bunch, tried to flip and decided just to recoup funds instead.
