im still boggled by the number of accounts listed as "art experts" in threads filled with 90% misinformation.

Also, I was generally talking about art prints. If we're talking officially licensed movie/gig prints, the edition sizes are generally dictated by the licensing agreement.
Although I have to imagine that the overall idea remains the same, with simply the person making that decision being a third party instead of the artist/gallery.
