While I wouldn't say he 'stole' from me, I never received a few of the prints I'd paid for back when he was running that commission group. After contacting and trying a few times, I gave up in the end. That was a few years ago. I personally wouldn't do business with him, but that's just me.

David is one of those commissioners that got started at the right time and got fairly organized at starting commissions, but has way too busy of a work life and a family to actually devote the time needed to completing them. So it seems like he checks in once every few months and its just kind of rude to be frank.

So he's running a bank for himself then?

When he kicked off Modes of Transportation, it was under the guise of 'Ford Craftsman Studios', which pretty much means that becomes his 'business'. It's not a commission anymore when you set up a website with drops and itinerary. That becomes your work and life.

His communication skills are terrible. If you've taken money from someone, and they communicate with you about where the thing they've paid for is, then the least he could do is reply. But nah...

I bought a print from him a while back, had to ask repeatedly when it was going to ship and weeks would pass before i got a reply and this is after prompt payment. When he did reply he'd get irritable and complain that i was expecting too much of him, comparing my expectations to a company like Amazon and reminding me he is only doing this part time. Just seemed disinterested and had zero urgency.

I bought 4 posters (one set) of mode transportation on January 30 on the following site: Ford Craftsman Studios. Since, despite 2 emails sent, I never had a reply and the posters are still not sent while they are already printed and in hand. The problem is that I paid with my visa card and not with Paypal so I don't know if I will be refunded. In any case I do not recommend this site and I will not buy them any more posters. No respect for customers. This is the first time it happen to me (i bought screenprint since 2016).

I made the mistake of choosing to wait for combined shipping. Only ever got 1 poster and paid the full var price.

I did eventually request and receive a refund. I think I got 2 of the 6 posters. I always got the impression the delay was mostly Durieux and not him. Maybe things have changed in the interim years. Still love that first Zephyr print.
