Received a tube a few days ago and finally opened it today. Cows. Cool stuff. Buy why did they ship rolled (in a tube big enough to fit 18x24 prints)?
We only use 24 and 30 inch tubes. Glad you like it and they arrived safe.
Do you mean to say that you guys don’t ship flat? That can’t be. Wouldn’t that be cheaper and easier?

Not complaining but wondering.
Price is about the same and the time/labor is at least double to ship things flat.

Certain prints need to be shipped flat like lenticulars, letterpresses, thicker prints or like some of AJs special pieces in his last show. If it can be rolled and not damage a print then we put it into a tube.

If we were to ship flat close to 1,500 sets it would probably have taken an extra 2-3 weeks to ship. It took us about 6 hours just to do the Wonder Woman lenticulars.

I remember back in the day one poster outlet came onto the scene with the whole we will ship only flat as a way to compete. First thing I thought of was good luck with that.

And it does cost more to ship flat so we do it as a flat fee if we know in advance a print needs to be shipped flat. Sometimes we realize last minute and just eat the cost

I guess I only looked at it from my perspective where I simply grab a box that is usually mostly ready because someone already sent me something in it.

For this size, flat shipping would definitely cost me less. Probably about half the price of a tube, if not less (haven’t shipped anything in for a while). I don’t take cost of materials and labour into account.

Anyway, I was just wondering and can’t say it matters much to me as long as prints arrive safely, which they did. Already flat too.

for this one yea you're right with costs. Would probably equal exactly the same as a tube. Its when you go larger like a 18 x 24 print its extremely expensive because most go by dimensional weight. Fedex used to be great with it but now they switched.

And listen if it really needed to have been flat and took way extra time we would have done it. It didn't though and we saved so much time by rolling.

Haha. I was only talking about this particular release, obviously. Shipping 18x24 and larger prints (as well as some smaller stuff) would be insane, lol.

James Jean is keeping the 'shipping giant prints flat for no particular reason' game alive.

Yea he's the man and thats a whole different ballgame. If we could have our business just run on 1-2 prints a quarter, I would probably hand deliver them to anyone in the 5 boroughs and clean your house while im there.
