And way more guns.

i go into these types of movies wanting to have a fun experience. I don't over analyze things. The big imax was probably one of the best visual experiences I've been to moviewise so Im definitely looking forward to the next 87 films.

saw Avatar on a date when it came out. both were flops.

Avatar has grown on me though when I've watched it since. there are way worse movies out there.

LOVE Avatar. First off, Sigourney. She's my #1 moviestar crush and she kills it in Avatar. 2nd and probably the biggest factor, my daughter totally fell in love with it when it came out and we must have watched it 15-20 times. Also, Giovanni Ribisi is great in it. Sure, the cheese factor is high at times but still think it's great and looking forward to the next few.

I never understand the whole comparing it to other movie thing as if its the main complaint lol We seriously all love Stranger Things and the entire show is inspired (done really well) off so many movies.

because sometimes people think that saying an observation is a criticism. and that if i observe that its narrative form is similar to another movie then....therefore its bad? or something.

they are observing that narrative constructs exist.

Of all the criticisms repeatedly hurled at this movie on the internet over the last 13 years ad nauseam, the “it’s just Ferngully/Pocahontas/Dances With Wolves in space” is by far the dumbest. Like, yes, you’ve noticed that the story shares common tropes that have been re-used by storytellers since forever. Congrats on passing Movie Literacy 101. Star Wars is also just The Hidden Fortress. A Bug’s Life is also just Seven Samurai. Watch more movies.

The everyman Jake Sully character, and the familiar story, were purposefully written that way so audiences had something they could easily relate to in this fantastical alien world they were being introduced to. If you’re looking for a more stimulating story you’ll probably find it in The Way of Water, now that audiences are familiar with Pandora and Cameron can flex a little.

lol you can take your Joe quote below and Gonzo's mom and apply it to that poster. Sort of works as a tagline. Close on the hack.
