They are lovely, I’m happy to have grabbed one. I remember seeing his little concept sketch for this and hoping it’d be a print one day.

Dark City Gallery:

Persona by Katherine Lam. Screen printed by VGKids. Available is two editions, both 13-colour screen prints, a medium size 16 x 24 inch regular edition and a large 24 x 36 inch variant edition.

Our second (officially licensed) poster celebrating the films of legendary Swedish director Ingmar Bergman.

Katherine Lam’s beautifully atmospheric illustration captures the films central theme of duality and the melding of two women, as the reflections of Alma and Elisabet (in the water) seem to blend into one person. This element is also reflected in the unique type design, which was created by artist Nicholas Moegly.

Available NOW at Dark City Gallery: https://www.darkcitygallery.com/category_s/1854.htm

For anyone interested, White Duck Editions have put together a wonderfully detailed blog post featuring some recent film posters by Takato Yamamoto. If you're interested in screen printing or the work of Takato Yamamoto, I strongly recommend having a read:

Good read. Especially appreciate the dip into the history of the style. Picked up the reg Onibaba and the Kuroneko variant upon release and they’re so good! Wish I had jumped on the Onibaba variant when I had the chance.

Dark City Gallery:

Today we are very excited to launch our brand new (officially licensed) film poster for Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, 'Ran'. Artwork by Huang Hai, one of the most exciting poster artists in the world for sure! Posters are available today from 16:00 UK Time.

What a treat it's been to watch this poster evolve! Huang Hai's idea was to combine two East Asian art traditions, giant calligraphy art and woodblock printing. Inspired by both art forms, the artist has created an extraordinary contemporary poster design.

Poster details:

I don't know much about Huang Hai personally or anything, but their art is really awesome. Some really good theatrical posters that I've got, and it's cool to see Dark City get them to do screen prints for stuff like Seventh Seal, this, hopefully more in the future.

Nice release. Regret not grabbing. It would have been cool to see the slice come from the opposing direction on the variant and expose a different scene. Beautiful texture and feathering.

A couple of new releases at Dark City Gallery: https://www.darkcitygallery.com

It's with great pleasure to reveal our new alternative movie poster, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the weird and wonderful 2003 film, 'The Triplets of Belleville', written and directed by Sylvain Chomet. Pre-order your signed poster today by visiting DARK CITY GALLERY!

After the excitement of obtaining the rights to this much adored animated film, the project was to get even more exciting when Sylvain Chomet (the Oscar-nominated artist and filmmaker) himself agreed to create the poster for his own film. Of course nobody understands the film better than Chomet and unsurprisingly the illustration captures the same beautiful style and charm we see in his film.

Screen printing Chomet's illustration was very important to us and this would not have been possible without the incredible skills of artist Juan Saniose, who faithfully converted Chomet's intricate artwork into a 10-colour screen print file. Saniose also helped us with the lighting in the piece, making it translate perfectly for screen printing. The original typography was created by Jonathan Burton and the posters are screen printed by Burlesque of North America.

More poster details:
A 24 x 36 inch, 10-colour screen print, artwork by Sylvain Chomet, limited edition of 150, hand numbered & hand signed by Sylvain Chomet. Pre-order price £80.
