Space Invader news..
everyone knows i love these invader kits, but after seeing the IK 15 that was framed on the banksy forum, i'm not sure about getting a new upgraded kit that is backed with that two-sided tape and not chalking like his older ones. if you do get this and take it out of the package, make sure you sandwich it, don't use a mat, i'm not very confident that the tape he uses is able to hold the bond as the chalking is able to when it's stood up and there's not enough support on the front. i wouldn't even use a mat if it was chalked either, just so it holds it's integrity.

They're tiles, can't you just reintroduce extra adhesive to the back?bryndavies wrote:Ouch. That's s bummer.
EDIT: My apologies, didn't realize the adhesive was also Ltd. Ed.

the weight of the tile and strength of the adhesive isn't structurally sound in my eyes. just take a piece of the tape stick it to the wall with a piece of tile and see what happens, it will definitely move or fall off over time. i've done construction long enough to know this isn't the proper way to install tile. the silicone or actual thinset is the only way to really keep them together properly. i think if you sandwich it and keep it intact it will last, but there's no certainty to how long. at least the silicone acts as a sort of grout that bonds around the tile and the entire back.
